Two queer Sri Lankans, of different nationalities and from different warring ethnic groups, haphazardly meet at a gay bar in Lancaster, California. Craving comfort, they form a tense though loving friendship, but sometimes new bonds aren't strong enough to hold against the world.

When returning to his hometown, Paco is asked by a stranger where he comes from. In a fraction of a second, Paco frantically searches through his life for an answer, finding the most unexpected connections between himself and his home—La Puente.
