The mighty Irish talent Krystal Klear provides a stonking remix of Parisian duo’s quirky ‘Modern Dance’ for Exploited here, coming in all guns blazing.

Deliciously plump drum machine toms throb away in sorrowful fashion over hard-smacking clap layers and teasing snatches of the string motif. A pumping Italo disco bassline slams into play with vox synth delays padding out the top end. Those seductive vocals weave their way into the depths of the mix, the atmosphere of the track slowly gelling as pulsing, filtered chords swell. 

The triumphant feel of the elongated breakdown lets these shiny melodic elements dazzle in all their glory as swathes of white noise rise and fall. Reducing to nothing more than the graceful string melodies and the subtlest of piano chords, it’s a thing of real beauty. Wobbling synth FX indicate that we’re to get ready to dance again, and when the beat hits back in, it’s a real fist-pumper of a moment.

Celebrating 20 Years on the scene in 2023, Kraak and Smaak have long established themselves as a formidable force. Their slick performances and masterful studio work have resulted in a series of innovative albums, while their extensive global tours across Europe, South America, Asia, Mexico, and the USA have showcased their skills as DJs and vibrant live performers. Known for their warm and uplifting sound that spans multiple genres, their hugely successful single ‘Squeeze Me’ - released originally in 2008 - was lifted from their second album ‘Plastic People’ and was instrumental in solidifying their international audience and media attention. The track included the soulful swagger of UK multi- musician, and DJ Ben Westbeech – one half of duo The Vision with the mighty Kon - whose vocal presence dances over the warm and funk filled boogie backdrop. Very few songs hold a legacy as strong as ‘Squeeze Me’; Widely regarded as a global sensation, it truly propelled Kraak & Smaak into the minds and hearts of many.
 
The exceptionally talented beat maker Moods, hails from Rotterdam, and having achieved global success with records like ‘Love Is Real’, the full-length album ‘Zoom Out’, and his most recent endeavour, ‘Music Ruined My Life’, Moods lends his distinct touch to this timeless electronic soul classic to great effect. Moods’ signature bounce straddles and caresses Ben Westbeech’s soulful vocal with the comforting presence of a king-sized fluffy blanket. Chunky synth stabs establish a loose backbone, allowing various funk elements to intertwine and take turns in the spotlight. Occasional string stabs and West Coast-inspired synth leads complete the sonic palette, elevating the remix into a timeless and essential addition to the Kraak & Smaak 20-year Anniversary Remix Project.
