Trick or treat! It’s Halloween and we’re feeling generous here at Data Transmission so we’ve teamed up with fast rising DJ and producer Cera Alba to give you an exclusive free download to enjoy at the nights begin to draw in.

For the uninitiated Cera Alba is the Leeds based artist that burst into the public consciousness of the scene back in 2011 with a string of well received releases on some of the hottest labels of the time including Hot Creations, Illusion Recordings, Alive Recordings, Gruuv Records, Composite Records, Domino Effect, Hot Waves, Lost My Dog, Resonance Records and Save You Records to name but a few.

Shaped by his childhood in Newcastle where he was exposed by his father to a world of different genres such as classical, jazz and rock and a trip to Ibiza back in 2007, Cera’s productions continue to win plaudits for the painstaking amount of detail that goes in making them what they are and we’re pleased to say the effort he has provided for us as an exclusive download is no different. Complete with a haunting vocal Club Drone perfectly surmises just exactly why Cera’s work has been getting so much attention of late and with the development his live set, which will see him showcase all his own productions in a eries of special live performance in addition to further planned released for next year 2014 is looking like an exciting year for Cera Alba.

John Talabot Melt Festival '14 - Playing 'DJ Le Roi - I Wanna Go (Cera Alba's Warehouse Dub)'

Hot off the back from releases on Viva Music and Lost Records, Cera Alba brings his debut release on Troupe Records, the aptly named Redshift Vortex EP.

The lead track 'Dura' delivers a typically robust mix of tough rolling drums and swinging mid range bass alongside vocal stabs which shout through the layers. The track develops with sparkles of sharp snares and crashes, resulting in a track which will make any dance floor stand up and take notice.

The second track on the EP is more subtle but no less explosive. It builds with a rolling tom drum which flows between a unique industrial stab and a haunting vocal. All brought flowingly together with Cera Alba's trade mark percussive style.

Cera Alba has already gained support from some of the biggest DJ’s in world including Jamie Jones, Matthias Tanzmann, Steve Lawler, Eats Everything & John Talabot. Redshift Vortex is tipped  is ready to deliver the good yet again.

Following on from previous standout Inhouse compilations on Moon Harbour comes the latest instalment, Volume 6. This time with 12 exclusive tracks presented digitally and on a 2 x 12” vinyl pack, young label associate Marco Faraone has also gone to work on fusing them all together into one magical set that will be available upon release. The compilation features music from a range of producers – some have been with the label a while, some are newer recruits, but all of them fit in with the internationally acclaimed and renowned Moon Harbour aesthetic.

London based East End Dubs is first up with the suitably dubby ‘Maze,’ a slightly creepy track that bumps and grinds with lots of moody atmosphere. Stepping up through the gears with his bulky, bass driven loops is then Andrea Oliva who first appeared on the label back in 2013, whilst Dan Drastic and label boss Matthias Tanzmann team up again for their ‘Arcade’. It’s a spooky, stripped back house roller with a breezy groove at its heart.

New recruits Chris Wood & Meat, frequent collaborators from Frankfurt, then turbo charge the compilation with their excellently urgent and energetic track ‘So Far Away’, then former Minus staple Barem serves up a rattling, kinetic track full of percussive energy that will get arms flailing on the dancefloor. Next up, Marco

Faraone goes deep with his deliciously driven ‘Mirror Coat’, featuring muttered vocals, spooky instrumentals and humid ambiance that really seeps its way into your soul.

Label regulars Luna City Express score a hit once more with the widescreen tech and spoken word consciousness of ‘Get High’, and fellow Moon Harbour staple Sven Tasnadi contributes the haunted late night house charms of ‘Special Places’. Sable Sheep is one of the label’s new generation of talents and gets all booty focussed and bouncy with his hard hitting jam ‘Pilgrim’, before the always on point Detlef then conjures up an intoxicating vibe with his feathery light, minimal house jam ‘Forenote’. Then come Paul C & Paolo Martini, who get all slinky, silky and seductive with their metallic, loopy ‘Speed Machine’ track and newest label member Cera Alba from the UK closes things down with his raw, hardcore deep house hitter ‘Voltage.’

This compilation once again proves that Moon Harbour evolves and experiments with subtle new sounds each year. What’s more, the label always stays true to their groove focussed; dancefloor aligned house sound whether they call upon experienced old stars or hot new protégés alike.

Fresh from the new and note-worthy Axe on Wax stable, this Various Artists EP has a bit of bite. 
AOW has been turning heads with previous releases - from the likes of Rhythm Operator - they have been pushing that chunky and powerful house sound that's meant to keep you dancing well into the small hours, their music is a mixture of the raw and physical with the deep and texturally interesting.


A1. Cera Alba - Jux
First on the record we have a low-slung groove, with some divine moving pads. Cera Alba's "Jux" track features all you would expect from an AOW record with heavy industrial sounds set against the backdrop of a dream-like chord sequence, before veering off and taking things into tougher terrain. Cera Alba is a fast rising talent and one to keep your eye on.


A2. Jux - Oli Furness Remix
Next on this EP we have the prolific Oli Furness. A man who is in growing demand and Oli doesn't disappoint. He steps up with a remix of Cera's original, taking things into heavier territory - as he so often does - and with his usual flair for the dramatic. Heavy kicks and snappy snares pave the way as a slow filtered loop rises to reveal his trademark rolling bass. As a resident at Sankey's in Manchester it is no surprise much of this man's work is designed to put a big system to the test. Nice use of the original shot sound frantically dancing around keeps this remix aimed firmly at keeping the floor moving and grooving.


B1. Rosenhaft - Unplugged Vibez
If the A1 was the beauty on this EP, this track is the beast. Quick to start and relentless in energy. Think early mornings with Kerry - with a very danceable walking bass line keeping pace for you alongside crisp 909 rides keeping you company and dictating the groove. This one is all about its original dusty feel, keeping things steady whilst enhancing the sound as it progresses. Even with a distinctly familiar sounding palette the drum programming and arrangement keep this track from ever sounding too comfortable and certainly keep the listener wanting more.


B2. Unplugged Vibez - Kindimmer's Zen Remix
Rounding off the EP - Kindimmer keeps the dusty undertone of Rosenhafts original, coupling hi-pitched ethereal sounds amongst his Sonics. This track is more about balance and is most cleverly done, with subtle changes and crafted rhythms. The build of tension is subtle but is enough to keep listeners focused as he creates a beautiful soundscape laid down with truly whole beats. This will be a firm favourite for DJ's who like to dig deeper.

After previous appearances via compilations and remixes, Cera Alba provides his first full EP for ALiVE. ‘Calling’ edges into Techno terriroty with a powerful kick drum and booming bass; swinging hi-hats and a hazy, tripped out vocal snippet giving the track it’s impetus whilst ‘Vision’ slows the temp down, Housing things, a quirky infectious groover with off-kilter shards of bass and melody. ‘Panorama’ is pure peak time - an arpeggiated synth and rough and ready b-line meld together with the tracks percussion to give a real sense of energy. On the remix tip, rising talent Kalyde perfectly buffers ‘Calling’ into a brilliantly respectful yet distinctly different beast to the original - adding a old-skool piano towards the end to lift things to a greater height. Finally, Latmun twists ‘Vision’ into something of a monster - loosening up the drums, upping the energy - a serious bomb!

Next up on Mile End Records is one of house music’s men of the moment in the form of Cera Alba. Following up great EPs on Viva and Moon Harbour he now comes correct with three more tracks that get remixed by Leftwing & Kody in great style. 

Cera is a UK talent who also releases on labels like Lost Records and Alive. As a DJ he is someone who made a big impact in Ibiza in 2015 and knows how to rock crowds big and small. As a producer, he makes no nonsense house beats with real meat in their bones and this new EP is no different. 

Opener Erratic Motion is an old school New York style house cut. Raw and ghetto with churning drums and a wild lead synth that tumbles down from the sky, it is one to make you sweat. Vertigo on the otherhand is a bouncy cut with big kicks filled with air, grinding bass and spooky chords that are rave ready. It’s one to send floors wild. Balaeria is another slamming and slinky house joint with crisp percussion and loopy bass sucking you right into the vocal flecked groove. 

Much loved London pair Leftwing & Kody remix this one into a more to the point and hard hitting, cut up and choppy affair that is perfectly physical for the floor.

London based artist Cera Alba returns with a deeply underground three track release on Santé’s highly acclaimed AVOTRE imprint, marking his return to the label after a series of high impact tracks over the past 18 months.

Title track ‘Desolado’ is an impressive display or Cera Alba’s continued evolution as a budding electronic producer. Exaggerated build-ups drop effortlessly into even bigger rolling basslines, while the almost garage-like synths dance over the quickening beat interludes to create a flawless club weapon, set to bring fire to dancefloors from Ibiza to Miami this summer.
Opening with a punchy, rhythmic beat and quickening rolling synths, Cera wastes no time setting the pace on ‘Paladar’, a dancefloor ready track that makes a big impact on it’s own, while still sitting cohesively on the overall release. The soulful vocals add a new element to the big room club vibe of the track, before acid heavy synth interludes drop in to round off this rave-ready banger.

Rounding off the release with another big, jacking house track, Alba adds a whole new sonic dimension to the release with ‘Eros’. The whispery, melancholic vocal brings a huge depth to the track, which alongside the wide, chunky bassline goes a long way to transport the listener from the main room, to the after-hours, while the looping synths keep the vibe decidedly current.

Montel steps in to remix ‘’89’ next, bringing shuffled rhythms, chugging bass swells and swirling delayed snippets from the original vocal and piano into the limelight to create a unique twist on the original number. A ‘Dub’ of ‘’89’ from Alba then shapes up the package.

London-based producer Cera Alba pairs up with vocalist Zahra for a pair of tough tracks on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this June featuring a remix from Stockholm’s Tiger Stripes.

Since his humble beginnings several years ago the Newcastle-born artist has cemented a reputation for consistency, with releases appearing on the likes of Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, VIVa MUSiC, Avotre, Madtech and Gruuv. As a DJ he’s been making regular appearances across Europe, including venues such as Watergate Berlin, Sankeys Ibiza, Brixton Academy London, not to mention festivals such as Hideout.

‘Taking Over Me’ is a dark and moody roller from the get-go. Robust drums and mesmerizing atmospherics form its basis whilst Zahra’s soulful vocals and a cavernous low-end rumbles throughout the track’s nearly 8-minute duration. Meanwhile, ‘Pablo’ has more syncopation to its rhythm as a piercing vocal and metallic elements ebb in and out of the mix. Tiger Stripes then provides a crunchy remix of ‘Taking Over Me’, distorting Zahra’s vocals whilst incorporating tantalizing synths into his own stomping rendition.

For the second release, London based Cera Alba delivers 2 heavy weight slices of peak time House music. ‘Apollo’ and ‘Zeus’ are prime examples of how Cera Alba’s sound has developed over the past few years. Stripped back warehouse style House music come Techno. Lead track ‘Apollo’ doesn’t mess about. The infectious groove and seductive vocal sample lure you deeper into the track, til you’re hit with a proper uplifting breakdown. Building and building until you’re dropped heavily back into the groove.
The supporting track ‘Zeus’ is a different beast. Dark & twisted atmospheric synth stabs and pads drive the track into top gear. This one is clearly designed for big dark rooms, with nothing more than a strobe and smoke machine.
Aus Music stalwart, Marquis Hawkes has been drafted in for remix duties. Taking us on 2 completely different journeys. His main remix keeps all the peak time vibes of the original, while featuring his own unique twist. Then his ‘House It Up’ mix sends us straight to Baltimore for an exhilarating organ led slice of old skool Deep House, reminiscent of the early Basement Boys sound.
