Government fun arrives on none60 with an incredible debut EP!

The Hours EP harks back to the late 00's with its half-time rhythms and gorgeous synth work! Modernomic if you wish......

The EP begins with the lead track "Hours", with its punchy stepping drums and airy arpeggiators, it doesn't take long for the bass to arrive but this track is really one for the breakdown aficionados - it's got two! Which I think is a first for none60?

"Just Because" is up next and I wish you luck in not ending up with this one stuck in your head for a few days (I'm looking at you synth sound at the 1 minute 33 mark!)

We then flow into "Magma" (Apologies - these write ups used to be a lot better didn't they?!) with its melancholy keyboard lines and crusty drums!

The EP ends with "Answer" and what a way to end, if you like beats then look away now - There aren't any. This is one for the Vangelis fans!

Look out for more music to come from Governmentfun on a plethora of labels in the future i'm sure!

Do you ever watch the same movie more than once? It must be really good to revisit it, right? When it comes to releasing music, we’re guided by the same philosophy. That’s why we’ve had the mighty Estonian duo of HeadRead grace us with another EP. But this EP – entitled “Contra” – will be something quite special because while it’s going to be released in digital format, one of the tracks – “Jazz Force One” – will be available also as a limited-run lathe cut 12” pressed in a few limited copies! 

And as for the contents, the EP is yet another piece of evidence to prove how versatile producers these guys are. The opening track entitled “Bleep” deals a heavy blow with its rough-edged synthetic riffs, harsh drums, and a booming bassline. “Contra” leans a bit towards the 8-bit realm, keeping things classy and very old-school-game-like – but at the right BPM, of course. Moving on to “Jazz Force One”, we’re treated to some frantic drum programming and super-thick basslines, with some audible jazzy influences heard in the background throughout the track. The EP closes with “Starcrash” – a no-nonsense tune which is all about the right combination of broken drums, funky flavour, and a growling low end, sprinkled with a bit of synthetic additions here and there to add variety. This EP is a truly enjoyable cross-section of what HeadRead are capable of.

Turrican is the head behind Berlin based Urban Poetry Records. A stable source for
releasing deep and forward thinking 170 music and beyond since over 12 years now.
Focusing mostly on digital formats, but with a few 12“ and some cassette release under
the belt, the label is ever growing and not likely to stop soon. Turrican is also part of
„Impulse Basskultur“, an event series based in Berlin which focuses on Bassmusic in
general and all sounds in between. These nights are also running for over 10 years now
and held events and residencies in well renowned Berlin clubs like the ://aboutblank,
Berghain Kantine and Gretchen; just to name a few. Turrican also has recently been in the
studio with some of his friends and fellow label mates and shaped his musical visions
together with these exceptional artists. Keep your ears open for stuff to come from Urban

RHAWK RADIO MIX

It’s been a while since we last had an all-Polish collaboration as part of a single release, but here we are! And what a collab it is! We’re bringing to you two of our long-time favourites – Mateusz Dudziński aka SNIK and Piotr Kaliński aka Hatti Vatti. The occasion? Well, we don’t want to spoil too much but there some fresh stuff by SNIK on the horizon, and to shake things up a bit, we decided to release Hatti Vatti’s remix of SNIK’s track that will be available as part of something bigger in some time first. The track is called “Absence”, but the title is actually a lie – you’ll find no absence of solid jungle vibes, riveting synth samples, dubby basslines, and classic vocal bits spread across the entire track. Think autonomic blended with modern-day jungle and you’ll get the idea.

And to spice it up even more, the release comes in digital format AND in the form of a limited single-sided vinyl record (300 copies available). But that’s not all there is to come, so watch this space.

Mira leans into minimalism with precision. The groove is patient, but cold-blooded - riding on a tight, syncopated drum pattern that shuffles like a shadow through empty streets. A ghostly vocal thread snakes through the mix, while the sub does exactly what it should: sit low, hit deep, and make your ribcage question your life choices 😂

There’s no overcooking here. Every element is intentional. Mira is The Garfield flexing restraint and control - letting tension build and release with just enough detail to hold the heads while keeping the dance locked in 🔥

As the B-side to Primator, this track completes the picture: dark, deliberate, and unshakably Our Sound 🎧
