Cesar and Yuli both tell awful experiences in Downtown Chicago. Yuli recalls tearing her ligament and being ignored by Chicagoans, and Cesar tells of his vomitrocious, tugging dilemma inside of a Macy's bathroom. Claire tells listeners about her hatred for AP English and Irais calls in late because she was showering (for once). Listen for all this and much more on Cespool!

Downtown Disasters (Part 1)

Maya makes her debut on Cespool. Take a slow dip into the cesspool as my best friend Maya takes us on a light-hearted reminiscing about the Mall of America before delving into her life in the suburbs of Minnesota, as she discusses struggles she faced with her Jewish identity and self-worth thanks to the oh-so wonderfully tolerant suburbians of her hometown. Being a triple whammy of Jewish, adopted, and brunette--not brunette!--I come to appreciate the confident person Maya has become. Deservingly so.

Cesspool - a disgusting or corrupt place.

Cespool - an intellectually discussing, corrupt-free place of thought-provoking conversations mixed together with humor, friends, and absolute elation!

Cespool was a variety show held at WSUM 91.7 FM Madison from 2017-2019. Hosted by Cesar Zuniga, there were four types of programs held on the show:

1) Themed Music Blocks - a half-hour of songs dedicated to specificity, whether it be songs about winter blues, food-heavy metaphors, poppy death songs, whatever ties into the subject of the week.

2) Current Events - slow news day or not, if something notable caught the attention of Cespool be prepared to have Cesar rant, not rave, about it to the poor listeners (let's be real, when is there anything to ever rave about from the news?). With Cesar's ability to snark and sprinkle some comedy atop his dry wit, scooch those ears close to the speakers as his commentaries provide light-hearted doses to the doom 'n' gloom news.

3) Sketch Time - listen to a lame host linger onto his love for improv with Sketch Time. Read some cringeworthy romance excerpts alongside the host, hear Cespool and guests intensely argue over imagined scenarios-- whatever floats the improv boat goes! Listeners could've called in themselves to provide topics for the show.

4) I Guest It's Time For... - the most important aspect of the show for Cesar was to highlight the guest(s) of the week. It didn't matter if his guest(s) came prepared or not, what mattered to Cesar was highlighting them and their personality in a way that showed listeners why he was ecstatic to be a part of their lives. With free reign to take the show in any direction they want, Cesar bounced well off his guests to assure their comfort in revealing personal stories. Of course, it was not all serious. Dependent on the guest, you could have a story revolving around a miserable date, to engaging conversations about childhood, to a serious debate about frosted tips.
