This EP was inspired by my trip to Lisbon, Portugal. This project is my sonic snapshot of a place that left a lasting impression on me.

Written during a late night creative surge after a trip to Lisbon, Bossa to Musicbox is an reminder of the city’s vibrant after-hours energy. This track bridges ancestral rhythms with hypnotic, driving grooves.

Innocent Bystanders

Producer and vocalist KG aka Karen Nyame teams up with Scratchclart (pka Scratcha DVA) for this first excellent four tracker of UK Gqom, fusing elements of South African Gqom with UK Funky to awesome effect. Opener 'Touch' kicks off with heavy Gqom-like drums, and a grimey flute, balanced with floaty Detroit techno sounding strings and KG's breathy vocals, dropping down into half-time as the track rolls out. 'Strings Of Death' combines classic galloping funky kicks and scissoring strings with repurposed Gqom drum fills, lending a sense of weightlessness and weird drama. 'Baga Drmz' switches between clattering drum stabs punctuated with KG's stuttering breathy accents, and abrupt half -time, getting ever more intricate, as dark chords and whispered vocals creep up in the background. 'Touch [Reprise]', starts off beatless before coming back, in an almost dubbed out form, the organ of the original foregrounded with KG's vocal echoing across the intricate pattern of drums and FXs. Effortlessly intricate and thoughtfully constructed, 'Touch' is a perfect low key summer EP.
