The majority of this song was written on May 9, 2015 and most of the music was recorded on July 4, 2015 (I recorded the fireworks sample to my phone that day). The vocals and some minor instrumental additions were recorded on October 23 and 24.

Paper Moses - It's All Coming Out

Cantare Per Te is our new EP, in memory of my darling papà.

We recorded this together with Dave Bianchi, Ismael Dueñas, María di Pace, Lisa Bause, Sabrina Ramirez, Nicholas Dominic Talvola, Jorge da Rocha, Xavi Molero, Aurélien Landy Gana, Marc Mena, Aram Montagut Garcia and Gorka Garay Aldazabal, some of my favourite musicians in Barcelona. Thanks to my wonderful brother, we were also able to include some audios he'd already captured of papà singing!

So Cantare Per Te is inspired by, created together with and dedicated to our dear father... some of the songs he always loved to sing for us. 

This is our version of Resta Cu'mme, written by Domenico Modugno & Dino Verde.

Many thanks to Dave, Aurélien and the great musicians involved in this project, to Alexis Kevor for mastering, to Seb and Vincenzo for their much appreciated help and to Simone for accompanying us with love on this journey.

05 You laugh at the moon

A few summers ago, Samantha de Siena set sail for Barcelona to follow her dreams of singing and writing music. There, amidst the magic of Barcelonaʼs old town, this singer-songwriter from London wrote her debut album, Here Inside (Whatabout Music, 2010), which has received glowing reviews. MondoSonoro praised her debut as “an elegant exercise in style” and Radio 3 as “literally extraordinary, an absolute pleasure for open ears and anxious souls.”

Not easy to classify, her music and her “beautifully unique voice” (El Periódico) have been described as “a mixture of Beth Gibbons and Cat Power” (Butxaca) and likened to “Joanna Newsomʼs dreamlike folk.” (Time Out) “Her work is truly emotive, moving from folk to jazz in a single breath and capable of becoming punk with one emotional outburst. Both elegant and lucid, Samantha, creates very beautiful songs that, in one way or another, always manage to thrill her audience” (Lamono).

Written and recorded with her impressive band, produced by the respected musical genius, Suso Sáiz, who plays on the album alongside Ricky Falkner and David Soler, and financed with the support of her fans, Lifting The Veil is a true labor of love.

This is a halfway finished demo by my friend William Travis Graves, better known as Mt. Egypt. I couldn't find the song anywhere, so I uploaded it for him.

Hailing from Wales but a resident of Japan for the past 25 years, Steve Good has, in various forms, been involved with music for his entire life. From classical violin through just about every genre imaginable, he finally found himself sucked into the vortex of London’s rave scene in the 90s. After moving to Tokyo in ’95, he started work at a recording studio, producing, mixing, mastering, remixing and programming music for artists, bands, games, and TV commercials, while simultaneously DJing for clubs and parties and producing via his own downtempo project, Puff Dragon. Involved in Labyrinth since its beginnings, Steve takes responsibility for that festival’s legendary sound quality.

After moving to the wild northern-Japanese island of Hokkaido in 2012 with his family, he found natural inspiration for what is now recognised as the Labyrinth sound. The epic beauty and remoteness of this icy, rock-covered isle on the north-west corner of the Pacific Ocean became the inspiration for Steve’s musical explorations of the interplay between the human and the natural, creating a huge and lasting effect on both his own musical output and the indelible artistic mark of Labyrinth Festival.

This present live set grew out of a phase of sadness and listlessness Steve experienced as the upheavals of 2020 ricocheted across the globe. In the absence of those usually unnoticed markers of the passage of time, anchor points drift and the moorings that ground opportunities for perspective and insight flit and vanish. Yet in this sea of disorientation, the plants continue to grow, rivers flow, waves crash, and the seasons keep on turning. In place of what appeared to be missing arises the possibility of experiencing each moment in its sublime evanescence. Steve Good’s Patterns of Perception 67 is forest music, mountain music, lake music. It holds chaos and beauty within it, transporting the listener to places both on the edge, and at the core, of the fleeting beauty of existence.

After witnessing his ethereal, truly moving opening set on day two of last year’s Labyrinth festival, this mix is a uniquely personal one for our collective. We’re delighted to welcome Steve onto our platform to share his inimitable musical vision.
