Here’s a throwback to one of my first ever attempts at a DJ mix from 1992 that I recently found on cassette. The audio quality and the mixes aren’t great but it has a lot of heart <3 I listened to it Saturday night as it was intended to be heard and it took me on quite a journey! At times I was on my hands and knees in tears thinking about how blessed I am to have such amazing family and friends, especially my wife Zoe that’s been with me through the whole journey, then at times I’d be marching around my deck, screaming at the moon like a wild animal. It made me take a good look at myself, I will never take anything I have for granted and will do everything I can to help create positive change in the world, because I want everyone to have a chance at experiences like this. So 25 years of DJing and my message is still the same… spread love, follow your heart, be strong and your dreams will come true! TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD.

Imagine sipping sparkling rosé straight out the bottle, snuggled up next to your friends, bundled in furry blankets and unicorn onesies...

After a weekend of non-stop dancing and debauchery you still aren't ready to go to bed quite yet. 
In fact you've found your second wind... maybe your third wind.  
You grab some more supplies and party favors from your tent and come back into the Crystal Ballers dome where tea is being served. 
There's a birthday cake and everyone is smiling.
Outside there are now hula hoopers and jugglers illuminated by the ever creeping sunlight. 
It is Sunday.
It's your day to shine.


This set materialized out of thin air with no planning or premeditation.
It ended up going well over 3 hours with people lounging and cuddle-puddling in the dome, dancing, wandering in and out from the outside, playing, laughing, drinking tea, celebrating joyously.
I'm really glad it happened, and although it's not a "perfect mix" by any means, it's a fun snapshot of some of my favorite tunes with some live trumpet laced throughout and it's a sweet memory for those of us who were there to participate.

Shift Festival 2019 Sunday Sunrise Set

As everything around us started to compound and I headed out to the protests in Seattle, my musical brain was immediately inspired and moved by the sounds of the crowd and everything around me. Tears rolled down my face as I raised my hands up into the sky and  started screaming with the crowd, “hands up - don’t shoot!” It has been surreal to process the violence and raised tensions on top of this pandemic. It’s hard to process how this has been an issue of our country for decades. It’s sad to see the divide and hate spewing out from those around us colliding on what they believe to be right. This issue keeps surfacing as we face more recorded and documented police brutality but we haven’t really moved the needle fast enough as the issues we face are much deeper than that. 
Facism and racism are REAL! It’s thick and our perspective needs to shift as this issue is deep seeded and needs to change. 
When I got home I started doing more research on what I could do musically to bring these issues to light and express myself through music. Through my research, I was turned on to a speech by Angela Davis at UCLA in 1972. Where she was fired, just two years prior, with backing from Ronald Reagan, for being a part of the Communist Party. The government would do anything to try and quiet her voice as she spoke out against them. She was bringing to light the facts and current issues plaguing this country with violence and racism. She is educated and speaks with such assertiveness that she was considered to be a terrorist by our own country. I was absolutely floored when I heard this speech. The words she expresses are still SO relevant and moved me deeply. I am amazed by her courage, determination and poise during her lifetime. I admire her for being so brave to take on what felt like the whole country to ensure her community had a loud voice!
