CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

ABAT: I wouldn't go as far as to say that our scene is bad, but unfortunately, for the Industrial genre, the scene is non-existent. We only have Donu D and me at the moment, and this is on a country level. Currently, we are just two active DJs/producers of this genre here. We've searched for people who share the same vision and way of thinking as we do but to no avail. Sadly, it feels like we're on a stranded island, but nothing will stop us. Even if we live 400 kilometres apart, we are ambitious, and we strive to bring this genre to the underground scene as soon as possible, despite the challenges that are ahead 🖤🫡 

Despite the Industrial genre being almost zero, our Hard Techno community is waaaay bigger and striving; although it's the "commercial" type, at least we have this 😁👌

It has made me overcome many barriers. I am walking on thin ice in our country because nobody actually listens to Industrial Techno. Our scene is filled with commercial Hard Techno stuff, and I highly dislike that genre now. Currently, I am trying to revive the Industrial scene once started by Donu D and Sergiu TH. Luckily for me, I still have Donu D as a friend and colleague, as he is still active in the scene!

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

ABAT: The set is straightforward, as all of my sets hit directly in your face as soon as an intro from a selected culture I admire ends. This podcast contains the Serbian chant "Terrifying Judgment", which adds a nice Orthodox touch.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

ABAT: The set reflects my mixing style, which includes around 30 tracks played throughout 60 minutes, which for some people may sound like too much. I am always running out of time, even before the time limit, because I am transitioning very fast from one track to another to keep the energy level very high and to make people dance to exhaustion! I want to say that mastering the EQ faders is a must for everyone who wants to play Bochka!

CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

BINCK: I live in The Netherlands which has one of the biggest hard techno scenes in the world. There are raves everywhere all the time so I am very blessed to live here. My first contact with the hard techno scene was in April 2022. I was immediately hooked and even though my friends left earlier that day because they had enough I stayed there till the end and enjoyed the music that I did not even know existed.

Since I enjoyed that event so much I started to go to raves on my own which I still do to this day. After visiting a lot of events I grew tired of the same sound over and over again. That’s when I figured why not start to dj myself.

After buying my first mixer in March of 2023 I started to really dig more into music and I really started to love the underground industrial techno scene. Since then my musical taste has become narrower and narrower which also affects my style.

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

BINCK: This is my first podcast I have recorded on four decks. This allows me to layer tracks all the time resulting in a podcast with constant high energy and with very minimal breaks.

Nowadays I try to use tracks you don’t often hear to deliver you something special because I used to really miss that while going to raves myself.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

BINCK: When I started to dj my style was heavily influenced by the artists I saw on stages at big events, but throughout the months I have found my style inside the underground industrial and bochka scene.

Nowadays I am focused on making my podcasts feel like stories with constant high energy and I fill them with the darkest tracks this scene has!

CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

A2XBY: I live in The Netherlands, a small country, which has one of the biggest hard techno scenes in the world. There are multiple raves every weekend. In October 2021, I went for the first time to a rave. At first, I felt a little uneasy and overwhelmed - also because I am always sober - but in the end, I was completely impressed. I loved the boost in energy that the loud music gave me and the amazing laser light show... just wow. In February 2022, I went to Rotterdam Rave for the first time. This event really enhanced my love for techno, and I started going to raves almost every week, yes, sober. After visiting a new underground rave concept in 2022, I discovered my true music preference: industrial techno. It was from that point that I started to realise what aspects of techno I liked and didn’t like, and that sparked my creativity to create my own style. It all started in the beginning of 2023. I released a few tracks, and they were very well received. It was indescribable to hear my songs in real life at raves. Towards the end of 2023, I received unexpectedly a big booking, so that is what started me working as a producer and DJ.

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

A2XBY: This is the first podcast where I’ve tried to keep the energy up the whole time. I do this by having as few breaks as possible and layering many kicks on top of each other.
I try to create a storyline - just like my productions. During the set, the music becomes more and more intense and dark. I’m starting with Bochka and working towards industrial techno. I only use tracks that fit my style and of course there are also some songs of my own.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

A2XBY: When I started to DJ my style was non-existent, it was mostly drop, break, drop, break. But after a few months of hard practice, I discovered what my style is: I start at Bochka and gradually work towards the hardest side of Industrial Techno. 
Nowadays, I am focused on making my podcasts feel like stories with constant high energy, and I fill them with the hardest tracks of the industrial scene.
