Champion Rocka "Mawdd Bass" featuring Savana Painter

The road to THE RIOT SOUND E.P. continues with the Dance Hall infused Head Masher "Mawdd Bass" Featuring Jamaican Born writer/producer/party starter SAVANA PAINTER! Champion Rocka was looking for a female vocalist that could bring the Dance Hall vibez, and literally out of the blue SAVANA posted a video of one of her tracks to The R.O.A.R.'s facebook page. "Ask and you shall receive." Champion Rocka sent SAVANA a beat, and got vocals back in less than 24hours (how's that for quick turn around). The vocals were FYRE but didn't exactly fit the beat that was sent, so Chooky and The R.O.A.R. set out to make a BRAND NEW beat based around SAVANA's vocals. The line "GIVE EM, GIVE EM, BASS" screamed for a DROP that had to live up to that salvo, and what we got was a stripped down, nothing but 808 drop that will leave people with their jaws on the club floor. Believe it or not this is not only the FUTURE of MOOMBAHTON, but maybe even of MUSIC itself.

Champion Rocka "DEVOUR" from The RIOT SOUND E.P. (A Meditation on Moombahton Vol. 1)

This Moombahpunk anthem was actually conceived on a flight to Mexico. Watching the opening scenes of TRAINSPOTTING, where IGGY POP’s “LUST FOR LIFE” comes blaring in during the movies’ classic CHOSE LIFE intro, a light bulb went off. What’s the BPM of that drum beat. Turns out it was in the 200BPM range, which is exactly double the Moombahton range. The germ of what would become DEVOUR was born right then and there. What would happen if you spliced the SPIRIT and ENERGY of PUNK with the SLOWED DOWN RYTHMS of MOOMBAHTON.
Fast Forward 6 months later, when the seeds for Champion Rocka are being sowed, and this song is presented as the first attempt at fusing these two worlds together. Keeping the PUNK feel of the intro drums, and vocals, and then adding an EPIC DROP, The R.O.A.R. and Chooky stumbled upon the template for their project. With RIOT SOUND, already having shook up the Moombahton World, and MAWDD BASS, showing that no genre or influence was out of bounds, DEVOUR shows where it all started. The road to the RIOT SOUND continues with the track that started it all.

Champion Rocka - “Riot Sound” from The RIOT SOUND E.P. 

The R.O.A.R. And Chooky's world's first collided in summer 2012, when Chooky turned in a Moombah-core remix of “Emotion32” for The R.O.A.R.'s upcoming EP. That track proved to be the catalyst for a collaboration that would move beyond just remixing. “Emotion32” was not only featured in a movie (“RELATIVE” in the opening scene), and on various blogs and websites(Do Androids Dance, Moomba+, All Things Moombahton, Fingers On Blast) it has also been a mainstay on Moombahton.net's ALL TIME TOP 10 with over 60K plays in only 3 months. The use of ORIGINAL VOCALS and ROCK ELEMENTS were heralded as a much needed and important part of the development of Moombahton and would lay the blueprint for CHAMPION ROCKA.
Moombahton itself still in it's infancy at just 3 years old, the Latin-tinged- 108 BPM genre founded by Dave Nada, appeared to have hit a holding pattern. Many of the genres BIGGEST Producers and Champions had slowly weened themselves off Moombahton and started dabling in the exploding Trap/Twerk/Zouk/ and Hard Style scenes. With cries of “Moombahton is Dead” ringing from Message Boards, and Blog sites everywhere Chooky and The R.O.A.R. Decided to re-commit themsleves to the genre that had brought their musical paths together.
The only criteria for Champion Rocka then was to do something in the 108-112 BPM range that hadn't been done before. Wether it was to use different rhythmic patterns or sounds, or to cross-pollinate Moombahton with genres it hadn't readily mixed with initially, PUSHING THE ENVELOPE of where it could go was Paramount. “Riot Sound” is the first ORIGINAL track from the forth coming THE RIOT SOUND EP, and it sounds the alarm right from the start. With a BLARING first drop that will melt your speakers, to the screaming Rage Against The Machine-ish yells of “HIT EM WITH THE RIOT SOUND” the track will get people's attention. With blessings already in from Moombahtons' progenitors and original innovators CHAMPION ROCKA is ready to take this sound as far as it can go.
