La Payara is a new project by Colombian producer Claudio Tantimonaco. Heavily influenced by artists that mesh traditional sounds with electronic beats (like Dengue Dengue Dengue, Nicola Cruz and El Remolon), La Payara fuse folklorica, with psychedelia and cumbia. 

Having seen Claudio play, Li (the lead singer from Bomba Estéreo), immediately invited him to play at Bomba Estereo’s festival (Esteréo Beach) on the Caribbean coast.   Since then La Payara have gone from strength to strength playing the club circuit in Colombia, Corona Sunset events and recently supported Bomba Estéreo.

Juls, one of modern Afrobeat’s most prolific creatives, and Sango, the eclectic Seattle DJ and producer, have recorded an inspiring set that brings out the best of both artists. The EP channels the sunny and feel-good spirit that Soulection has become known for: Jazz, Brazilian funk, Afrobeat, House, Latin rhythms, and a feeling of genuine musicianship. The instrumental “Ritmo Coco” shines with shimmering guitar licks that play with whispering piano and dueling flutes that transport the listener to a faraway tropical beach. “Angele Ni Fie” trades flutes for trumpets, has elements of Amapiano, and it features playful vocal samples over a steady yet evolving beat. On Fufu and Grits, both Juls & Sango blend both of their musical influences to create a timeless body of work.
