Toronto’s Greg Gow kicks off 2024 for Rekids Special Projects.

Greg Gow’s ‘Soul Seek’ EP on Rekids Special Projects launches with ‘35 Fathoms’, a restrained house-meets-techno cut in which he imbues the machines with real funk and soul. As one of the biggest names in techno to come out of Canada, the Tronic, Planet-E, and SCI+TEC artist once again delivers a classy techno offering worthy of Radio Slave’s celebrated Rekids offshoot.

‘Soul Seek’ sees Gow channel both Detroit and the early Toronto rave scene, with the title track boasting chunky drums and silky smooth dub chords which drone stylishly under its steady top-end. ‘SleepingProphet’ then continues with slick grooves and dreamy synth work before dancefloor anthem ‘Pocket Lighter’ closes affairs with Greg Gow calling in an iconic vocal, rich melody and chugging, shaking drums.

Mark Broom returns to Rekids with the ‘Showtime’ EP. 

Mark Broom’s return to Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint takes in four tracks that showcase the UK techno legend’s sample-twisting style of house and techno. With a slew of EPs, LPs and remixes for Rekids and sister label RSPSX in recent years, Broom is one of the label’s core roster and most in-demand artists. 

Tough drums meet soulful, recognisable strings in ‘Klashjamz’, a real blast to the past chopped up in creatively funky ways. The title track ‘Showtime’ is next, its groove skipping and stuttering before breaking out into jazzy electro swing done right. 

On the flip, broom brings in ‘HIGHNRG’, a percussive, peak-time treat that expertly does what it says on the tin via a pulsating, rolling bassline accompanied by hypnotic vocals and infectious rhythm. ‘Jazz Ting’ then closes Mark Broom’s ‘Showtime’ EP, a hyped-up number with an earworm, classic & classy melody. 

Techno, house, hardgroove and rave, Mark Broom is one of UK dance music’s legends and has a myriad of production credits to his name dating back to 1989. Warp, M-Plant, Hardgroove, and his own Pure Plastic and Beardman imprints are just a handful of the labels he’s worked with, while studio collaborations with the likes of Baby Ford and James Ruskin have cemented his reputation as a storied and vital part of electronic music culture.

We have the pleasure of featuring DJ Ligma, a prominent figure from the vibrant north side of Orange County, California. As the recognized founder of the burgeoning collective Groovers Ball and a devoted resident at TropiCaza and SinLuz, he has become a familiar face in the underground techno scene. Notable recent bookings include appearances at Incognito, TechnoFam LA, SXTCY, Control Room, Clinic Wednesdays, Space Taco, and numerous other esteemed events. 

Drawing inspiration from the late 90s and early 00s, DJ Ligma's style encapsulates the essence of the era. In this meticulously crafted mix, he presents a seamless fusion and diverse selection of tribal beats, infectious bounce, and compelling grooves. The tracklist features a captivating blend of both timeless classics and cutting-edge tracks spanning from 1998 to 2024, resulting in a one-hour journey of pure sonic dynamism.

Podcast 359 is from Berlin-based DJ, producer and co-founder of PUSH Network. We love how she plays with the energy dynamic throughout this set with skilful use of layering. And in the intro, listen out for Grimes as a fun reminder of her recent Coachella set, something the artists says she "simply couldn't resist".

Caniche is a regular in Berlin’s most renowned booths including RSO and Tresor but she is heard and loved by fans of Hardgroove all over Europe from Berlin via Vienna to London, Paris and Madrid. Oscillating between tooly, rough and funky, her sets are packed with rap-reminicient vocals and tribal elements – while old school percussions build
the rhythmic foundation.

Co-running PUSH Network, Caniche is one of three residents, hosting the New Faces residency at Tresor. PUSH hosts workshops and reoccurring events in Berlin and Vienna. The network fights for more visibility and equal treatment of FLINTA artists in the electronic music scene. Connecting people across Europe, PUSH aims to be a source of support, inspiration and new approaches in the industry.
