Vanity Productions is the solo moniker of Christian Stadsgaard, a crucial figure in the contemporary Nordic electronic and experimental music scenes. Standing at the helm of the label Posh Isolation with Loke Rahbek, Stadsgaard is responsible for one of the most consistent and compelling labels to both define and elaborate the many productive sides of the underground in the last decade.

As a performing and recording artist his work with Rahbek as Damien Dubrovnik was a critical project in the contemporary noise milieu. More recently his collaborative work with Jonas Rönnberg as The Empire Line has gained significant notoriety. However, it's as Vanity Productions that the full breadth of the emotive intensity of Stadsgaard's work is felt.

Actually Laughing Out Loud is a project from Rubén Patiño that explores the sound of laughter as a compositional material as well as a means of psychological conditioning. It originated as a re-interpretation of the "laugh track" sound effect featured prominently in many beloved TV sitcoms. ALOL stretches the boundaries in between the enjoyable and the uncanny while addressing certain aspects of contemporary entertainment and popular culture. At the same time, it is an attempt to explore humour as a subversive tool that allows Patiño to question, through a playful approach, rigid standards and a persistent excess of "seriousness" in contemporary electronic music.

The album is a compilation of sonic assemblages of manipulated laughter samples that have been featured in Patiño's concerts and spatial interventions over the last years. Such as No Laughing Matter, a performance created with Kay Schuttel presented at Berghain as part of CTM 2020, that included 5 laughing vocalists live and numerous compositions included in the CD. This compilation also incorporates two tracks featuring Stine Janvin Joh. Mixed and mastered by Giovanni Ferlinga at Tapewave Mastering in Milan in 2019.

After a long wait, Etang Brulant is absolutely stunned and delighted to bring you serbian musician Zhe Pechorin and her new solo release, « Boundary Lessons ». After several appearances on Various Artists these past months (Amek, Minor Adjustments...), a 20 minutes live jam released on Ōtium and a cassette on Holy Geometry two years ago, « Boundary Lessons » seems to crystallize the mental universe and her thoughts network in a touching and highly personal way.

Using deep pads and pristine synths drowned in an ethereal reverberation without ever slipping into a cacophony of lost or forgotten frequencies, the melodic composition of Zhe Pechorin demonstrates a calm and peaceful state of mind, yet torn apart by an overwhelming melancholy, sometimes subtly pulled out of its torpor by noisy addings and the discrete trespassing of damaged leads. Through the listening of the whole album and the meaning of titles, one can feel a strong sense of loss ; almost a mourning process or a heavy nostalghia, adhesive to the skin and the mind and dangerously craving for recognition. Homesickness of an unknown time, of an unknown land, of an unknown past - or a real and more painful impression of regret, one can choose the shape of its interpretation.
