“How to Kill a God" is the first chapter of a story I’ve began writing which follows the life of God’s second son.

After becoming disillusioned with the world he created, God decides to send a revitalized savior to Earth in hopes that he can succeed where his first son had failed. This newfound prodigal son is born into the same exact circumstances his brother before him had been; to a poor family by a virgin mother. However, as he grows older, God realizes his worst fear; the new world is void of God’s influence, making it impossible to reach his second born son. Without any means of communication, God must watch in horror as his child falls victim to a broken system orchestrated to recycle violence and poverty into the socioeconomic lower class. The child once destined to be the savior of the new world suddenly becomes a product of an impoverished environment, helpless in the face of economic and social discrepancy.

This story aims to explore a wide variety of issues plaguing our world today; from systemic segregation and political corruption domestically, to the imperialistic crimes against humanity abroad, most specifically, within the Middle East.

“How to Kill a God (American Cypher)” is the first installment of this still developing project and I’m extremely proud of it. There is no limit to what can be explored and achieved with this idea and that’s what excites me the most. Although “How to Kill a God” has been introduced in the form of song, I plan on releasing a majority of this story as a novel. There will be a continuing series of songs released as a means of sonically encapsulating various different chapters, however, this story will be explored most heavily within the novel I’m in the process of writing. This is the most ambitious idea I’ve decided to pursue thus far as an artist so I look forward to seeing how the story develops as the world around us continues to change.

I know that this explanation doesn’t really do justice to the specificity of the plot as a whole but I felt I had to provide some answers to the true message behind track number twelve off Basic Reflection.
