Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 007

The 7th instalment of our In:Focus Series places the spotlight on a very specific point in time - The Early Deepchord records years.

In the late 1990s the Deepchord record label was co-founded by Rod Modell & Mike Schommer in Detroit, Michigan. After just four years and achieving far more success than initially anticipated, DeepChord Records wound down operations. For this In Focus we want to concentrate specifically on the work that Rod and Mike did before they disbanded.

Across the Dub Techno scene the name Deepchord carries the highest of gravitas. Elite level quality, and considered by many to be, alongside Basic Channel, the blueprint of the genre.

So much has been written about Deepchord over the years, and we're not here to repeat what's been said (you can check out a great interview with Mike from a few years ago here - inn8.net/interview-with-mike-schommer-deepchord/ ), we're here to celebrate the music and we hope that through this session we have done that.

....the enveloping warmth of a well-worn bass bin, the soft echo of footsteps in an empty warehouse, the timbre of a 5 AM sunrise, the deafening crescendo of a thousand ravers as the bottom drops out. The frequency of pleasure, the pitch of insanity, the resonance of pain, the rhythm in a dancer's exhalation, the reverberation of our lives in the infinite puddle of chaotic reality.....
