They made similar whines when the North Vietnamese beat South Vietnam and got scads of Armalite/Colt M-16s submachine rifles, Northrop F-5B "Freedom Fighter" fighter-bombers, scads of Kaiser two-ton trucks, a fleet of M-24 tanks (obsolete), and a bunch of the ancient Douglas AD-1 Skyraider "Spad" assault aircraft used by the S. Vietnamese Air Force. The fear was that the Vietnamese would sell the M-16s to any liberation army on Earth, and any classified material would go to Moscow. I don't know if they did sell the rifles, but stuff made it to the USSR.

Milo Yiannpoulous (remember when he claimed his surname was "Wagner" in print? We do.) still owes two (?) million dollars, last I heard, so he needs to wring as much money out of everything as he possibly can.

They can't even call what Israel says propaganda, pro-Israel people called it by the modern Hebrew word "hasbara", which roughly means "explaining" but really means "this is our official line on the issue and you'd better agree with it or else." It is the most Orwellian thing out there within US media and online spaces and Israel and the United States are supposed to be free republics (as defined by outfits like Radio Free Europe or Freedom House, who are highly conservative), and yet one (Israel) has cajoled the other to allow their agents to get the US populace to agree wholeheartedly with anything they do, even if they somehow deport all the Palestinians to the Moon. The last time we had anything like the Israel Lobby in the US was during the 1940s with the China Lobby, and most of that apparatus was set up by Henry Luce of "Time" magazine and not imposed on America by Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang ("Nationalist") government before Mao won.

We start today looking at Democrats’ feckless failure to extend the eviction moratorium. That being a fairly dismal topic, we try to lighten things up with two reading series checking in with how some old friends of the show are handling their new post-election lives in DC.
