And this splits Paine apart. His father, a Quaker, did not want him to learn latin. I love Chapo Trap House, but listening to the first episode I am afraid you are unwittingly victims of the propaganda of the framers of the constitution (Federalist Papers - and most historians since). You claim that the Articles of Confederation government was a failure. Weak is also usually mentioned. The Articles were an alliance, NOT a government. Had we revised the alliance, there would be no cult of the Presidency. Instead, the framers squashed democracy before it flowered.
