In the A1 slot of the tenth and latest release from Tilman's own imprint, Klamauk, is "Work It", the track most closely aligned in title to the EP. It's a solid number that pays tribute to French disco house via looping disco guitar chords and 909 beats. The samples themselves endure some clever length changes and filter-work (like any good French affair!) to accentuate the dancefloor pleasure, building and revealing to create variation and tension. The track could honestly fit right in with the beefed-up edit style of Fine, but sits nicely in this package of sample-based house joints.

The tunes aesthetic transports one away from the quantised beats and bpm matching of today, to a simpler, more organic time of actual instruments, live club performances and glitzy glamour.

Look at the enjoyment on the musician’s faces, look how the bassist’s pendulum head rocks from side to side in time with the beat. Look at the piano man’s hands jump and dance around on the ivories. Everyone smiling and co-ordinated masters at their craft. You can’t recreate that nowadays -  well, unless you’re Silk 86.
