Insane Changes

Improvisation on a theme by Shostakovich

This piece is a series of 10 variations on an Ostinato, It involves a great deal of improvisation, and I'm pretty happy with the recording. 

Isaac Otto & Tom Weeks, on alto sax,
Nayoung Jung on piano,
Yesenia Checa on percussion,
and myself, Charles McGraw, on the violin.

Linoleum Variations, for ensemble of 5.

The piece is built around 8 chords, which repeat through 3 different sections. Some instruments have vague notated parts telling them what to play, others simply improvise. 
1st section is almost entirely notated, 2nd section is improvisations around the chords, 3rd section is a repeat of the first section, but performers are allowed to improvise to it as well.

Played here by the Mills Contemporary Music Ensemble. I'm the violinist!

Prayer - for String Quintet

My Thesis piece, 36 variations on a Brief motif. For 2 Pianos, 2 Saxophones (one of which doubles on Bb-clarinet and Bass Clarinet, two Violins, and Percussion.
 
I was 100% satisfied with the performance... but not 100% satisfied with the recording I got. There are some artifacts and sounds in there that I do not appreciate. I may rerecord this privately later to get a better recording.
