The 2nd mix in my 'Sunset Soul' collection. Constructing these mixes is an absolute pleasure. It allows me to showcase pure soul and disco released throughout the decades into one continuous mix of sub 115bpm. 

I have provided the tracklist below and this time round I have added a few words as to why each track made the cut. This is perfect for hazy summer days!

Curtis Hairston - I Want You (All Tonight) (JM After Session M&M Mix) [BBE]

Opening with this track seemed natural. That vocal hook from Curtis Hairston from 1983 is unmistakeable! John Morales has touched up this original soul track into a masterpiece.

Advance - Take Me To The Top (Moplen Remix) [D:Vision]

Moplen is remixing classic disco and soul records into absolute masterpieces this year. This 1982 Electro- Disco record has also been remixed by Michael Gray this year, however Moplen's version is more relaxed and perfect for Sundown Soul.

Candi Staton - Hallelujah Anyway (Moplen's Classic Club Vibe) [Glitterbox]

Candi Staton needs no introduction in the disco world. She provided this vocal in 2010 and it come as no surprise that Moplen has reworked it into an amazing sounding contemporary disco sound.

Dr Packer - 1000 Kisses (Original Mix) [Masterworks Music]

Australian Dr Packer has reworked Luther Vandross 'Never Too Much' into a mixable format. It pays ultimate respect to the original which is one of my favourite soul tracks of all time - originally released in 1981.

Sticks & Stonez Ft Liv East - You're My [Glitterbox]

Sampling the 1976 soul record 'Darlin Darlin Baby' from the O'Jays. Sticks & Stonez and Liv East have provided a fresh vocal over a low frequency soulful bassline to give this record a new lease of life. 

Dr Packer - All Night Boogie (Original Mix) [Editorial Records]

Its no surprise that Dr Packers work is frequently used in this series. He remixes classic disco so well and his take on the 1982 Inner Life release 'Moment Of My Life' is no exception. Whenever this vocal kicks in hands are raised!

Folamour - I Know It Has Been Done Before (Original Mix) [Delicieuse Records]

Folamour is making serious moves in the music world right now. His sets are often fully constructed of original disco records. Here he has updated Leon Ware's 'Got To Be Loved' from 1981 and it sounds divine.

Junktion - Im Wishin (Original Mix) [Razor-N-Tape]

Originally released in 1979 by Stephanie Mills as 'What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin'. JKriv's label Razor-N-Tape have made this classic into a vibey classic sounding disco track which I just had to include!

Coeo - Like It Is (Original Mix) [Razor-N-Tape]

The oldest sample on this edition. Taken straight from the 1977 Luther Ingram disco hit 'Do You Think Theres A Chance'. This vocal is simply incredible and is very well implemented by Coeo on this 2016 rework.

Loletta Holloway - Love Sensation (Dimitri From Paris DJ Friendly Classic Re-Edit) [Salsoul Records]

As the remix title suggests, Dimitri From Paris has made this 1980 Loletta Holloway record DJ friendly and it still sounds exactly the same as the original! A true timeless classic!

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes Ft Nikko  - Todays Your Luck Day [Essential 12" Classics]

I thought long and hard about a closing record for this mix and this one just hit the spot. The emotive 1984 vocal from Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes and Nikko is nothing short of amazing. This is one of those records you truly feel connected to and was perfect to sign off with!
