As a label, we believe in going where sound leads, and our search for the bleeding edge of electronic music has once again concluded in the stand-out percussive style bubbling up from the Buenos Aires underground.

‘Meltdown’ by Folgar & Chumbita completes our Argentinian trilogy—at least for now—with an offering of sophisticated, genre-meshing groove and synth work. With complex layers of scintillating lead themes, nuanced sound design, and a voguish sense of weightlessness, Folgar & Chumbita deliver an artfully stripped and eclectic six-tracker with remixes by James Harcourt and Vini Pistori for Kiosk ID no. 033.

‘Small Introspection’ thrives on its namesake micro-shifts and darkly churning synth contortions. An ominous framework of oppressive subs and percussive rustlings open up vast frequency bands for morphing layers of quivering synths and resonators to strobe across a thunderous substructure like bursts of blazing energy across a blackening sky.

A field of throbbing bass patterns, plucky synth themes, and revolving percussion lay the oscillating groundwork for ‘Meltdown.’ A dubby roller that artfully contrasts moments of calm serenity with high-octane theatrics, ‘Meltdown’ discharges a vast, pitch-bending orchestra of
cascading resonators and beautifully intertwining melodics.

Folgar’s solo contribution ‘Sauvé’ unleashes torrents of ethnically-charged percussion, laser-sharp electric sweeps, and salvos of polyrhythmic blips. Threading the needle between choppy, floor-focused monotony and wildly pitching impacts and overtones, ‘Sauvé’ is a
bottled-up storm of arcing energy framed by a powerfully stripped beat.

Anchored by a cavernous kick and a carpet of darkly morphing saws, Chumbita’s ‘The Walk’ conjures a grungy left-field dancefloor seance through a moody, spaced-out guitar theme, mystic vocal chops, and ghostly fields of pads and resonant plucks.

Vini Pistori’s approach electrifies the original with cascading white noise shakers, searing amps, and sizzling snare fills in a choppy and percussive rendition with overwhelming melodics.

James Harcourt transfigures the arcing saws on ‘Meltdown’ into a dystopian transmission of robotic synth salvos, hellish vocal effects, and an anthemic eruption of morphing, arp-crazed energy.

Despite its rhythmic complexity and meticulous sound design, ‘Meltdown’ succeeds in delivering a primal sense of pure dancefloor ecstasy, and it's this that makes Folgar & Chumbita’s vision so compelling: the Argentinian duo delivers a beautiful degree of sophistication without losing sight of their work’s raison d'être—creating powerful, floor-focused anthems that touch the mind and move the body.

Saturday night at The Burn is the final chapter of the week that is. There is a saying that The Burn will not always give you what you want but will always and most certainly give you what you need. This set reflected pretty much the complexity that the Burn bestowed upon me. Oh wozers did it deliver on what I needed!

Despite my low energy before I played, simply because I had spent such a focused week working on The Train, the first track sorted me out and five minutes in and the energy from the crowd sent me straight back up. That energy was crazy beautiful. Wow I cannot begin to describe!

Starting out the week with a childish and playful approach ended on Saturday with a somewhat complex, deep and somewhat edgy with a sprinkle of trickster. That need allowed me to take a journey not done before in my musical journey..... This set was completely unplanned and was totally happy with where the energy and the crowd took me. My spirit dwells in the heart of this lovely train and the magic that it casts on those that pay attention to it. Gratitude!

Charlie Fraîche and Jimbo Jones are 1 person… the name behind these alter ego’s is Adri, who started as a party promoter in the early 2000’s.
He had his share in making the Belgian progressive scene big together with his friend, dj Whizz and their party crew, SmileyTribe.
A few years later he started to spin the decks, where you can find him now either as Charlie Fraîche or as Jimbo Jones.

Charlie is a storyteller… stories filled with funky beats... from hypnotic deep house to atmospheric techno to groovy minimal to funky nu disco... Think outside the box and dance like nobody's watching!

Jimbo is a different story… expect all styles of music... mixed from one to another... whatever fits the moment and makes people dance!

Adri has played at numerous partys and festivals in Germany, Swittzerland, Netherlands, France, Hungary, Sweden, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and in Belgium in notorious clubs like Fuse, Ampère, Vaag...
