Welcome to Don’t Throw Stones; a mix series. 

The late, great Andrew Weatherall once equated clubbing to churchgoing, in that for some people, either might serve as a personal quest for transcendence. The comparison also derives from the idea that they both require a facilitator; people “want it ordered, and they want a middle-man,” Weatherall said. Don’t Throw Stones is a celebration of the middle-women and middle-men of nightlife: the DJs. Contributors to this mix series are located far and wide, from Bristol to Berlin, and each will distinctively capture their own take on the euphoria that is synonymous with clubgoing.

Monoke delivers the first mix of the series. Her blistering trajectory is testament to a deep-rooted understanding of what makes people tick in the club, and her contribution to Don't Throw Stones is a genuinely phenomenal hour of progressive house heaters.

The lovely French pixie @bambi-dj for #154. Based in Paris, she has a mostly show on @rinse_france & is a regular resident at both the wonderful Macadam Nantes & @@hypersoft_bln 

Her sound is textured, kaleidoscopic & unearthly - full of surprises but somehow always warm & inviting.  She has been an exciting artist to watch blossom in recent times. A. perfect fit for the Animix series.

Pioneering the next voyage is our good friend & frequent visitor to Plantera, Katie aka Lora Mipsum - a creative spirit whom we have a hoooj love & admiration for.

Co-curator of hazy Whomp's for heartfelt causes and embarking on a noble quest to unearth gems of yesteryear with her label Slush Records, we knew this care and attention to detail would run through to the voyage series. 

Showcasing the downtempo realms of their vinyl collection, Katie elegantly weaves a psychedelic excursion through blissed-out spring-time soundscapes & dream-state chillers. A timely mix of seasonal shifts through ambient rays metamorphosing into organic rhythms of the mystical, guided by the groove. 

Thank you so much for this beautifully crafted journey, Katie - spring has most definitely sprung.

Another musical connection formed on a dance floor (and one of many on the sandy shores of Floresta), I met Hans (@benkamal) at Waking Life last year. This mix is a lovely blend of tech house grooves, progressive, breaks and beyond - his collection coalesced into a divine interpretation of Animalia's sound.

A longstanding member of the Brussels scene, Hans is a dedicated & eclectic digger with a penchant for subtle grooves. Kamal explores house and techno's deepest cuts - each track deliberately chosen to lure the audience further into a hazy trip.
