Dynamic Spheres #024 - Floating Machine

Today we celebrate the Winter Solstice in the Northern hemisphere. A time of year where we have the longest of nights followed by shortest of days. In many ancient cultures this marks the symbolic death and rebirth of the sun and for many of us this midwinter day represents a shift, the end of a cycle and beginning of a new one, where we're going towards brighter times.

We'd like to host our celebration and final chapter of the Navigare Audio podcast for 2021 together with our dear friend and brother NESS from Italy. Visualize yourself barefoot on the psychedelic dancefloor together with your friends, turn on the volume and tune in to this set from this years edition of Modem Festival.

As part of our celebration we'd like to announce that we have the privilege and honor to release the second album of Ness on Navigare Audio in the beginning of 2022 and some of the tracks from the album are included in this journey. Enjoy!

Did you turn your head to the sky during the last nights of August? If so, you may have watched metoidal particles enter our atmosphere and burn up in beautiful cones of light towards Earth. These shooting stars, which originate from a specific area of our sky, the constellation Perseus, are one of the most fascinating cosmic spectacles that can be observed every year. We invited Anders Navigare to be our aural vanguard accompanying our astrological observations.

As a key figure of our scene, visionary festival organizer and booking manager for international festivals, partly as a vagabond DJ, and today one of the label managers for Navigare Audio, Anders probably doesn’t need much of an introduction. Countless gigs, in many corners of the European continent, from small private gatherings in the woods to Ozora Festival, have distilled a very distinct sound that rings true to Anders innermost core. From the early days of Zolod'esque night time Psy to today's matured deep, entrancing Techno there's a direct kinship - depth, hypnosis, subtlety, warmth, beauty, highest possible production value, and, above all, no bullshit danceability.

The sonic venture we get to hear from him is nothing short of a stellar guidance into Deep Techno. From profound kicks and warm basslines over minimalist percussions and fresh hats to trippy leads and epic atmospheres - this mix has it all and adds an extraterrestrial vibe to boot, making it a cosmic phenomenon in its own right, well worth witnessing.

Have you ever heard of NGC 3582? This is the modern term for the space nebula around Argo, which was discovered almost 200 years ago by the astronomer John Herschel. Floating particles and hovering material condense in its gloomy atmosphere and give birth to young stars. Some of them are many times larger than our sun, but also much more unstable. Many die again soon after their birth in spectacular supernovae that we can observe from planet earth. Clarence Rise is our monthly adept, offering sonic explorations that reach out to these unique places in our galaxy.

Clarence Rise is a french Deep Techno producer and DJ, whose sometimes dark but always introspective music draws on his deep connection with nature and the twists and turns of the psyche. His compositions combine complex rhythmics with organic sound design, diving listeners in hypnotic, immersive soundscapes. He creates textured, crackling, sometimes syncopated techno, while also exploring the depths of Deep DnB and Tribal sounds. His work is a constant quest for raw emotion and subtle intensity, offering experiences both mysterious and captivating, shaped to resonate as much in clubs as in the intimacy of personal listening.

For this “Dynamic Spheres” edition, Clarence has woven together some floating tunes from his personal nebula, ranging from ethnic desert rhythms to stellar and deep, melancholic breaks. He does this with impeccable mixing skills, bringing together different kinds of leftfield vibes that give you an idea of how newborn stars emerge from cosmic dust.

Originating from Czechia but now residing in Spain, our next guest for the series is the ever growing artist ‘Adelia’. Taking utmost care in her track selection, her love for deep techno and all things nature is the impetus force behind her mixes.

With an array of past features, notably for ‘Art Bei Ton’, ’Temple’ and more recently, ‘Monument’. Adelia has a profound place in the techno scene. 

With inspiration drawing from the infinite universe. Atmospheric pads, perpetuating textures and cyclical rhythms make her sound somewhat perennial; just as the universe may itself be.

FERAL & SPEKKI WEBU @ The Swamp | MoDem Festival 2024

When the beats are rolling, the floor is shaking and your mind is wandering to the stars, it must be a good way to end the year. We're glad to have a sonic guide as experienced as Floating Machine as our last adept of 2024.

Hailing from Portugal, Antonio was trained on regular instruments such as guitar, piano and saxophone, which he played in various jazz, funk and reggae combos. It was in these bands that he began to take an interest in hypnotic and psychedelic soundscapes, before finally venturing into the realms of electronic music. His earlier influences can still be felt in his interpretation of techno, while he delves deep into the palette of ambient and experimental sounds with masterful skill.
With his productions and sets, he aims to take the listener on adventurous and unpredictable sonic journeys, using his music to connect and communicate.

This fast-paced mix develops a hypnotic flow that is hard to resist. And while it has real dancefloor qualities, it still retains Floating Machine's signature artistry and intelligent sound design, bringing rich textures, tribal rhythms and epic atmospheres. A special brew with which we gladly bid farewell to the year 2024...

Ness is the alias of Andrea Deplano, a pioneering force in the world of deep and hypnotic techno, with a career spanning over a decade. Raised in Sardinia, with a background in sound engineering and a passion for obsessive rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes, he has honed his craft to masterful levels. His performances and productions are a journey through the depths of techno, with a focus on hypnotic rhythms and immersive textures. Over the years, he has performed at some of the world's most renowned clubs and festivals. He has also collaborated with several respected labels in the industry, showcasing his ability to seamlessly incorporate contemporary sounds in his productions. In addition to his work as a producer and DJ, he has also made significant contributions to the techno community sometimes as an event organizer more often as a label manager. In 2010, he co- founded The Gods Planet, an Italian electronic music label that quickly gained recognition for its innovative and high-quality techno releases.
Through his music and label work, Ness has become an ambassador for the hypnotic techno movement. His tracks are beloved by fans worldwide for their ability to transport the listener to otherworldly realms.
