We live in an increasingly crazy world in which humanity is being lost and greed and the power of governments dominate without regard for human destinies. Untruths and fake news are spread on a massive scale and have become part of the daily agenda 😮😱

Senseless war and destruction characterize the picture worldwide and are leading the earth to the abyss at a rapid pace 💥⚡

With the song “Change the World”, Heartwish wants to shake things up and send a message to all of you that is close to our hearts.

We should pull ourselves together, use our energies and positive achievements again to advance humanity and do everything we can to make the earth a place worth living in for us and our children in the future and to preserve our planet.

It is “home” for all of us and the place that makes life possible in the first place! 🌻🌴🌞🤗

Ego, the first single from his rock album Prison Of Modesty, set for release in June 2026. ‘Ego is a kick ass rock song with an infectious chorus and a killer solo. Everyone should listen to it’, Kuiper laughs.

Then, on a more serious note. ‘It’s a song about how your Ego can keep you small. Being narrow minded in life comes from an Ego that is too big. It happens to me too sometimes’, Kuiper says with a wink.

In Ego, Martin mixes personal experiences with observations from everyday life. 'An ego can be nourished by an upbringing in which you are the centre of attention. Too much love without boundaries is fertile for an Ego.'

Kuiper wrote the song a while ago, right after his first child was born. ‘Once you become a father you start to look back on your own youth and struggles while growing up. That’s basically the story behind Ego.’

Ego is the first song of the rock album Prison Of Modesty. ‘I love rock music and Prison Of Modesty is a dream come true. The album will be released in June next year.’

For the ten songs on Prison Of Modesty Kuiper worked with Henk Wesselink and Ymte Koekkoek of the rock band Money & The Man and Jim Zwinselman and Erik Neimeijer. Producer Guido Aalbers mixed and mastered the tracks. ‘It was really special to work with such talented people. They really turned my songs into big rock anthems!’

Martin Kuiper’s journey in music is not your typical story. He released his first song in 2023 when he was 49 and his musical output has been steady since then with the folkrock album To Feel Is To Believe, the live ep To Hear Is To Believe and the five song ep Dreaming Of Sea Of Time. Now it is time to rock for Martin Kuiper, with Ego being his first impressive card on the table.

We’re Chasing Shadows, a North Wales based indie rock band.  We formed in 2015, and since then have built up an excellent reputation across our local area. We’ve released four EP’s so far, played gigs across the UK in venues small and large, received radio play across the globe and loads of great reviews of our music on blogs, from UK based to ones in Germany and Brazil.

We were really grateful to be supported by BBC Wales Horizons/Gorwelion Launchpad fund, who awarded us a grant to support the recording of our fifth EP in 2019. To support that we have played a number of gigs to promote our new music, including FOCUS Wales, HMV, loads of local venues and there’s more to come.

The feedback we’ve had from our gigs so far has been great, and the comments we’ve had about our music so far have been amazing. We’re back in the studio in March with more new music on the way, building up on the momentum we have built so far, with our aim of getting our music out to as many people as possible, and gigging in as many places as we can.

Fresh On The Net is a music blog hosted by Tom Robinson and Team Freshnet, offering independent artists an open door and a level playing field for their music.
