This 'symphonic poem' composed by Strauss and inspired by philosopher Nietzche's novel of the same name, has since been popularized by Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film '2001: A Space Odyssey'. The piece's introduction, (translating to 'sunrise' in English), is particularly popular.
