The two 7" single tracks lifted from the 'Trash or Treasure' album out now through Butter Beats records (one of our hometown's finest record stores!)

The A side - aptly entitled ‘Quicksilver’ (named after a Marvel comic book character) - is a gritty, fast and frenetic funk workout that kicks like a mule! Starting off with a tight, fun, hard hitting riff that’s met with snappy brass stabs which collide with a fierce drum break, before tearing into a righteous, soaring B section, as the razor sharp drums and rhythm section set up the tune again for another round of raw JBs styled funk!

The B-side ‘Rabbit Hole’ continues the homestyle funk ride with its catchy, rubbery, dance- floor groove. The tunes skips along with some of the tight trademark funk flavours found on the ensemble’s first 7” release ‘Jelly Belly’! Warm and twangy guitars, honky tonk hammond organ and crispy tight drums (and tambo) stride ahead as the organ then announces its solo and dances back and forth with a hard hitting drum break (b-boy/b-girls alert!), before the groove returns and takes you to the finish line. Let’s go again?

Both tracks feature Darvid Thor (Guitar) and Henry Jenkins (Bass) from the college funk and soul sensations The Cactus Channel.

Includes secret ‘freakout’ drum-break and bass interlude.

All tracks taken from the forth coming album ‘Trash or Treasure’ out now on Legere Recordings! **Quicksilver is exclusive to this 7” vinyl release and does not appear on the LP vinyl version!

Brooklyn's Breakdown Brass have returned with a monstrous cover of the Rick James classic "Mary Jane", a follow-up to their smash debut 45 "Monmouth b/w Next Episode" (Kept Records). The track blends their trademark heavy sound with the strolling soul vibe of the original.

The members of Breakdown Brass stay busy - touring and recording with Ikebe Shakedown, Antibalas, Lee Fields, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Monophonics and many others. Led by Nadav Nirenberg on trombone, their unique combination of heavy Afro-Funk with the sizzle of Balkan Brass has caught the eye of Gilles Peterson, NPR, BBC and more.

Jacques Renault is a DJ and producer from the Washington, D.C. area who lives and works in Brooklyn. He runs Let's Play House, a roving house, disco, and techno party as well as an imprint of the same persuasion, with friend and partner, Nik Mercer. He owns three plants, a rotary mixer, thousands of records, and a similar number of T-shirts.  Despite working within the confines of a different genre, Dischord Records is still probably his favorite label.

Dave Lee’s cover of Rainbow Brown’s “Till You Surrender” was originally released on ZR in the mid 90s and it featured one of Taka Boom’s strongest vocal performances. 

The song has been ear marked for re-release for some time and now we give you a stonking new disco house re-work from DJ Fudge. 

Written By Patrick Adams (Inner Life, Musique and many other disco classics) “Till You Surrender” is super anthemic and combined with Fudge’s classy but energetic string heavy mix it’s a sure-fire dancefloor winner that's perfect for the current disco revival.
