Andrew Morrison, AKA The Cyclist, is a UK producer at the forefront of the lo-fi, opaque, analogue house scene fittingly described as “tape throb”. Being the purveyor of DIY busted techno, a gauzy melodic sound submerged in tape distortion, The Cyclist..

Influenced by an eclectic range of music from Krautrock and 60s psychedelia to early Chicago house, techno, jungle and dub, his critically acclaimed album Bones In Motion, named one of the best releases of 2013 by XLR8R and Boomkat, was the first album released in the collaboration of Leaving Records and Stones Throw Records. In 2014 Morrison introduced a new alias, Buz Ludzha, via the ‘Love Repetitive Rhythmics’ 12” on All City Records, before returning again as The Cyclist in November to release his second album, Flourish, named one of the best albums of 2014 by FACT, having premiered on Pitchfork Advance.

Recorded live on two Technics SL-1200 + one CDJ, through a crappy Pioneer DJM-300 and a Soundcraft Spirit Folio-mixer, and played around with some Fostex Analog Spring-reverb and Roland Space-Echo efx on the fly. Fun.


Telephones - Happy Birthday Deidre Mix

This mix was recorded live at hosoi using records, some fx and some synth for drones and tones. Everything was improvised and it was the first time i was doing it. 
As i'm not planning to do it again shortly i thought in uploading it so people could check it out.

DJ Hell ‎– Hellboys (Italo Megamix)

This is the last DJ set I did before the COVID-19 crisis hit my country. It was recorded at my friend Jorge’s birthday in Valencia the 7th of March, from 2:30 AM to 5:48 AM. It’s a 100% birthday party set —for mates who are into music, but mostly wanted to have a good laugh while dancing their asses off—, so at first I thought it wouldn’t fit the current state of what’s going on in the world.

A day after, for the first time in my life, I started quarantine —to ‘flatten the curve’ a bit. And a couple of days ago, while finding new ways of overcoming extreme boredom and concern, I started to realise that uploading a birthday party set might be a cool chance to cheer up some of my friends, who are also confined in their homes, every one of them with they’re own financial and personal worries.

I’m missing that weekend so much, and I’m missing all the past weekends and all the days I’ve been living until today. I’d love to go out, take a walk, hug my loved ones and even the not so loved ones. But hospitals are collapsed and this will grow exponentially because our government took things as seriously as they usually do —not very.

So please, if you are in an affected area, stay at home as much as possible —this means going out just for food or a short walk with your dog—, help and take care of the most vulnerable, don’t be afraid of looking too paranoid (if you never had before now is the time: it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure) and wash your hands a lot. And as Arnold Schwarzenegger said: “Listen to the experts, ignore the morons. We will get through this together”.
