Our first vinyl EP narrates the kitchen-table tales of the mythical Mucky Trace, brought to you by our resident marching band, Felon5.

As the gloomy shadow of 2020's year-long dance floor hiatus gradually begins to dissipate, an international calling for hedonism has swept eagerly through the world of dance music. And with it, an unspoken summoning for the third 'Summer of Love'.

A year of pleasure indulgence and accidental anarchy as we flock from forest to field and retake the dance floors we so often missed.

So, as the year begins to gain momentum and the calendars begin to fill, let us join you in the celebrations for the year that we lost and present you with our piece of this intricate puzzle - BIZR001.

The label will serve as an amalgamation of the years of Bizarre that have passed. Of sleepless Sunday mornings as nights turned into days and days back into nights. Providing a soundtrack for that dedicated weekend warrior, sporting a crinkled cowboy hat and a pair of luminescent sunglasses, blissfully unaware of the world outside the walls that surround them.

And in doing this, build a lasting home for our residents and for the wandering nomads who have yet to find a home. Sprinkling a personal pinch of our own seasoning into the musical stratosphere and offering a timeless fragment of Bizarre to the future generations that will succeed us.

When we first heard the tracks that are now part of this EP we were convinced an Italian producer from the 90’s had just dusted off a pack of DATS from his archives. Little we knew that Derral was a young, fresh and very talented gentleman from the outskirts of Barcelona. The 4 tracks on this OCD release are reminiscent of what it could be heard in Italy’s Riviera Adriatica legendary clubs in the early 90’s or on labels like UMM, MBG, or Heartbeat and the whole EP is a sneak peak into the promising future Derral has ahead of him.

Rave specialists OPIA Records mark release number 12 with “Trance & Dance” by Sentaku’s, Man/ipulate. A dusty nod of respect to the timeless sounds of the 90s with the five tracks sounding like unearthed gems rather than modern day productions.

The opening track “Flight” gives you an instant taste of what’s to come, driven by trance energy with a pure sense of euphoria, taking the dance floor into an otherworldly state. Cruise control is initiated with “It’s Not A Mindtrip”; the upwards journey continues within this hypnotic soundscape.

On the B side “WWA” is constructed upon clean broken drums, simmering throughout, never becoming carried away. “The Beat Club” is a raw and punchy encounter providing only feel-good energy from start to finish, pushing for the peak time moments. “Primary” rounds off this cohesive body of work with further innovative arrangements.

Man/ipulate has managed to capture the essence of the Trance era, drawing elements from the past and giving them a new lease of life via his sound. The OPIA camp is firing on all cylinders in 2022, with fresh new branding, a slew of releases ready to roll out, and a European tour firmly pencilled in their calendar.

Sex Tapes From Mars second reissue drop comes through more contemporary, tighter, and cleaner but not lacking the grit of its predecessor. 

The baseline alone on Electromenager’s ‘Sunny Side’ on the right dance floor, on the right sound system, it’s enough to end any rave. That’s meant in the best way possible, how do you follow a track with such precision yet drunken mania all at the same time. The synths echo Hitchcock’s scariest movie shot in the 60s, while the drums make you more than aware while simultaneously deranged on this outer planet destination this new label takes you to. 

Staple selector and producer Youandewan takes it to even further afield galaxies on the flip. Tribal drums and morphing samples, conjure free party energy, with the top end in the sky and the low end firmly rooted in expertly crafted club-ready transgression. 

The last remix by Huerta comes earnest and precise. Less low-swung and more f**k off. The baseline is simple but absolute. This is squishy, mushy, dirty dance music.
