Here is a nice treat, even though the quality isn't great. It's Bob's opening song from his later show at McCabe's Guitar Shop, in Santa Monica, CA. Vic was the opening act and he joined Bob that night for a cover of the Glen Campbell classic. It was the only time they collaborated on this tour (save for a radio show from the day before.)

Back in early 1990, Vic was touring in support of his debut album "Little", and on March 22, he made a stop by KCRW in Santa Monica to be interviewed by Deirdre O'Donoghue for her radio show SNAP. Here are some excerpts from that interview, as well as a very early live performance of "New Town."

This is a very special gift to all of you, partly because it's Vic, but also because Dierdra was a very dear friend to the folks at Texas Records. 

Both are missed.

Here is a rare treat. This is Vic Chesnutt reading the poem "The River God", which was published in 1950. This recording comes from a mid-1990s radio session with Mark Radcliff for the BBC.

I may be smelly, and I may be old,

This is Vic performing an excerpt from the 1955 Conrad Aiken poem "A Letter from Li Po". He did this at the "Josiah Meigs and Me" performances, but only performed a small section of the full poem.

Vic- Goodbye Sadness

Picked up this tape for 50¢ at a local Salvation Army. It’s a partial recording of the famed Blue Monday show from WETS 89.5, broadcasting out of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. The recording is from March 1, 1993, hosted by veteran radio voice Wayne Winkler, and it’s packed with scorching blues. There are some fidelity issues and the occasional dropout, but it’s still a fun, nostalgic listen. I haven’t put together the playlist, so this will play just like it did back in 1993. Enjoy.
