A wide range of studies supports the conclusion that people defend themselves against threats by mentally isolating them. Repressors have been shown to process information in a rushed, shallow, or minimal fashion. When presented with some negative information, they will often generate spontaneous happy thoughts or feelings, minimizing its impact.

Depressed people process information much more thoroughly, whether it is good or bad. This high level of processing develops strong associative links with similar information. When a depressed person tries to avoid a damaging cognition, they often think of some other negatively affecting thought. Evidence from human and animal studies shows that isolation prompts sensitivity to social threats and motivates the renewal of social connections.

This track is the final result of what began as a short 1 min piece that I created as my final work for my Sound Design class this last semester at Berklee School of Music. The assignment was to showcase some of the presets/patches that I had created for the class. I ended up liking the short piece so much, that I made a whole song out of it. I normally do not write music in the Key of C Major (too happy of a Key for my tastes usually), but I am pleased with how this turned out. I think this music piece really draws in a sense of longing and nostalgia.... or a mystical "Wanderlust" for a time and place never experienced. I was pleased to find that someone has indeed invented an existential term for this inner Nostalgia/Wanderlust.... "Anemoia", so thank you to the man who writes the 'Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows' for this term. I hope you all enjoy this music piece and thanks for listening! New Years Blessings to everyone!

This track was created using Reason 13 Rack Plug-in with instruments Thor and Subtractor, Ableton Live 12 DAW, Vital Synth, Arturia's Augmented Piano, Ableton's Drum Rack with 80s drum samples, stock Ableton EQ, effects and utilities, Fab Filter EQ and effects and mastering done with Ozone 11.

Anemoia

First single for the upcoming album Oceans Rising, The song title VEIL NEBULA refers to the NGC6960 which is a cloud of heated gas and dust in the constellation of Cygnus, it constitutes the visible portions of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant. The name was chosen because the cloud has the form of a Swan. Hinting at the Swan song, which is a metaforic figure, it refers to the final gesture given just before death, the phrase refers to an ancient belief that Swans sing a beautiful song just before their death, having been silent during most of their lifetime. In this case is the Cygnus Loop or Veil Nebula who makes its last performance, before going to the darkness of the Universe.

This delivery is covered by a great artwork by Ainsoph Studio, the illustration shows the Veil Nebula above in the Sky below a dark pink dying Sun, down below shows the main character with his left hand raised to the sky, standing over the ruins of a robotic hand covered by rocks and sand, the whole painting is a post apocalyptic scenario.
