Barber Joe

We define our Music as intense uptempo beats with tight and groovy bass-lines, aggressive reverberated guitars and laidback vocals on top. Our main influences are Thee Oh Sees, The Drums, Dick Dale and Brian Jonestown Massacre

Each of us comes from a very different musical background, from which we have brought individual elements. Conception of musical genres and preferences for music can vary greatly, but instead of choosing between those, we decided to incorporate both. You could say that we are working with our differences as tools for affecting each other musically and personal as well. But we have found a common ground where we can share our passion for “Garage/Surf-Rock”, and push each other into doing something greater with the music we are exploring together. This is what makes the sound of Cheap Shades.
We are both in our twenties and live in the capital of Denmark, where we also both study electronics, although on very different levels. This common interest has emerged from our even greater common passion: Sound Engineering and Music Production. This might be the core of our friendship and the backbone of the project. The reason for this might be because we met at a sound engineer course, where we learned the techniques for creating our music and our individual strengths.
