This and That get back to basics with a more stripped down package for their third release, a two track EP entitled Places You Might Know. Keeping it simple, theres one original from fellow Italians Matteo Spedicati & V!to and then one remix from German Patrick Lindsey on the flip.Matteo Spedicati & V!tos original is all about their ability to fuse melody with a dancefloor groove. Built around a simple Caribbean flavoured, melodic hook and with plenty of bounce, Places You might Know is full of energy and swagger. There are big, full-bodied drums, exotic vocals and subtle grooves all working together to create an atmosphere that is full of colour and personality. The rolling bassline and wonky edged FX give it those all important floor moving capabilities.Patrick Lindsey delivers a deeper remix on the B Side, preferring to build his rework patiently, taking it from humble beginnings to a climatic conclusion. The remix sets off with a rich bottom end filled with murmurs of deep bass and punchy beats. Gradually building, Lindsey adds stabbing synths and chopped up vocals allowing the track to gather pace until it reaches the deftly created tipping point at the tail end of this eight-minute affair.Providing the fascinating artwork for this release is the multi faceted artist, Delia Gonzalez. Based in Berlin and having previously lived in New York, Delia is a versatile and highly creative artist. A sculptor, musician and performance artist, she is renowned for stylish creations across multiple platforms. Her love of music and art makes her right at home amongst family This and That and we are delighted to have her on board

Globetrotting DJ and producer Seth Troxler is well and truly back on the beats. Having recently released his first track in years, Evangelion, on Guy Gerber's Rumors imprint, he makes his debut solo on his very own Tuskegee. Launching the label with The Martinez Brothers a year ago, CZ kicks off the fourth release for the label with atmospherics that make way for deep funk grooves that slowly build into a twisted, acid dancefloor stomper. Backed by the rolling Junkyard Tool, Seth's Just Back EP is out on vinyl from 27th April on and digitally from 18th May.

Since its launch in 2010, Soulfooled has been lovingly curated by Alex Niggemann and has steadily established itself as a crucial platform for exciting, fresh talent. The label’s focus is always on sonic innovation and searching out unfailingly original musical gems, and, in the process, developing its own distinctive brand of music.

With a deep love for classic analogue sounds, merged with the limitless palette of possibilities afforded by modern music-making technology, DJ/producer Kris Davies utilises his meticulous production skills and a flair for crafting distinctive, intricate soundscapes, to stamp an emotional ambient mark on all his tracks and mixes. Now, he is set for his debut single release with the ever-evolving Soulfooled family, with two exceptionally creative tracks. 

An instantly infectious, hip-swinging rhythmic backbone means “Aura” wastes no time before launching into a breath-taking display of creative genius, as it builds layers of melodic motifs, juxtaposed synth lines and flourishes to make it an irresistible musical delight – visualise a dynamic 121bpm ball of energy, pirouetting majestically around the dancefloor.

The subtle, percussive ‘Goodbye Lullaby’ with its wonderful hint of melancholic reflection, serves to create a distinctly different, but no less enthralling atmosphere, showing another side of Kris Davis’ standout inventiveness. His subsequent remix of Affect! ‘Akaria’ (Save Us), ‘Relentless’ (with Yost and released on Just Her’s Constant Circles label), an EP on Christian Loffler’s well-respected Young Alaska imprint, and recent outings on Crossfrontier Audio, Suara and Parquet Recording (amongst others), have continued to raise the creative bar and mark Kris Davis as an artist to keep an eye on. With summer residencies coming up for Avant Garde & We Concur in London and Paris, now is the time to check him out.

Veritable giants of the underground house scene, Kastis Torrau and Donatello are masters of their craft. With the "Genesis" EP, the duo provided a landmark moment with a stunning debut EP for Proton Music. As we now return to the twin-track offering. Two high-profile remixes UK and US producers see "Ida" transformed.

Barry Jamieson's name is writ large throughout the history of dance music. UK born but now operating from his New Jersey studio, the Grammy nominated US based producer is responsible for a plethora of projects that have shaped a generation. Responsible for mixing all of Sasha's music since 2003, Jamieson's work alongside Charlie May and Sasha himself over a number of years, saw tracks that included the era-defining "Xpander" alongside the genre-defining "Involver" albums. A studio engineer and technical visionary of global renown, regular appearances on film and TV including the ever-popular, "CSI" add further to a stellar reputation.

A hugely-respected producer and engineer under his own name and soubriquets including the celebrated, Evolution, Jamieson's work for Kyubu, Golden Wings and microCastle has been a revelation with the latter accounting for a host of high-profile remixes of DNYO, Ricky Ryan and Cid Inc. Furthermore, Jamieson's own Circular Sound Recordings has been a successful vehicle for his music as the monthly Circular Sound show on Proton Radio showcases the very best in underground club sounds that fill airwaves and dance floors. Making his very welcome debut on Proton Music, the Barry Jamieson remix of "Ida" is a deliciously evolving piece that cleverly integrates elements of the original while supplying legion additional production, not least by a smooth, rich bass line that is the perfect counterpoint to Torrau and Donatello's bass. Textured pads and a 303-tinged lead reach their zenith at the breakdown before a brash, bold beat hypnotises once more in the third and fourth movements in a work that is yet another showcase for Jamieson's ever-expanding talents.

A man very much a product of the modern dance industry, Darin Epsilon's rise to the upper echelons of the underground scene has been nothing short of meteoric. Hailing from Chicago but now firmly ensconced in the vibrant 'city of angels', Los Angeles based Epsilon has made a significant name for himself via his "Perspectives" empire. Both a hugely successful radio show with thousands of listeners and an important label with a multitude of followers and supporters, Darin Epsilon is a force to be reckoned with. Over 2 million Soundcloud plays are testament to this support as are regular DJ performances across his homeland and on a global stage alongside the likes of Cattaneo, Warren, Digweed and Sasha.

Darin Epsilon's production career is no less impressive as a host of blue chip labels play host to his music including Sudbeat, Hope, Perfecto and Black Hole. Over a century of credits can also be found on his own Perspectives digital through an array of original and remix production material as Cid Inc., Petar Dundov and Quivver have all lined up to reinterpret his work. Making a welcome debut on Proton Music, the Darin Epsilon remix of "Ida" takes the elements so central to the original, intelligently reworking them into a delicate, hypnotic offering that reinterprets Torrau and Donatello's work with immaculate precision and attention to detail. The result is a work that bristles with instantly recognisable dance floor dynamism.
