many in their wake. A song of rage disguised as a sarcastic happy go lucky warning to those

track was written in the midsts of being trapped in an extremely abusive relationship and
daydreaming of a time when this will not be the norm. It acts as a warning to anyone who
believes you get infinite chances at happiness, to appreciate what you have and to recognize
true love. It also warns those experiencing violence in their relationships to retreat as opposed
to building up a tolerance. All of this dark lyricism is set to a tense and choppy instrumental,
meant to replicate the feelings of being tied down and pushing and pulling your way out. This

Kansas-native and current Liverpool resident Cheery releases their single, "A Plea", a stream of thought lyrical bargaining of their own worth. “A Plea” tells of how one owns confidence issues
can project onto their partner to begin a cycle of resentment and defensiveness. After all of the overthinking, the song ends with a conclusive “i will not be any other than i am, just for me, and
for only me.” Influenced by the dream pop styles of Alvvays and Japanese Breakfast, this track puts anxiety ridden lyrics to an almost whimsical composition which acts as a commentary on

A Plea

Kansas-native and current Liverpool resident Cheery releases their single, "Years Now", a
heartfelt rumination on a long distance relationship. The purposefully simple and repetitive
melody is indicative of a nagging thought one struggles to work through. "Years Now" rests on a
foundation of swirling synths and
washed out guitars, reminiscent of a dream-like state. With the opening lines, "I keep on
traveling in my dreams to take up any chance to meet you. Materialize before my eyes awaken,
and if I am mistaken, then never let me wake." displays the melodrama we associate with love

Years Now

Kansas-native and current Liverpool resident Cheery releases their single, "Jason", a eulogy for
her friend Jason Grant, who passed away as a result of a hit and run in Portland in January,
2012. It tells the story of some of her interactions with the large influence on her youth, such as
hanging out in his apartment complex pool singing the entirety of Arcade Fire’s album “Funeral”,
or phone calls after he had moved across the country. This track uses samples of orchestral
clips from various funeral dirges and is meant to resemble one itself. This track was produced

Gloomy Art Pop project, Cheery, is the new creation of Katlyn Conroy. Often hailed as a siren of
the Midwest, they have brought their unique sound to Liverpool, England all the way from
Lawrence, Kansas, USA.
With 20 years of live performances under their belt in projects like La Guerre and Cowboy
Indian Bear, Conroy has performed alongside the likes of Daniel Johnston, Florence and the
Machine, Grizzly Bear, Tennis, Sara Barielles, and Why?, to name a few.
Cheery pairs cinematic instrumentation with relatable, introspective lyrics and captivating vocals
to create a heart wrenching and full bodied set that has moved many audiences to tears. The
abundance of transparency and sincerity in their performance gives Cheery a unique edge
amongst others who instead parade cultivated theatrics.
Conroy's prolific songwriting has thus far culminated in four full length solo records and five eps
since 2009. Now, in 2023, the debut Cheery record "Bliss", out on Spirit House records, will
explore new sonic territories with a larger energy compared to her past releases. With a
powerful voice and a gift for storytelling, Cheery has established herself as one of the most
exciting and innovative musicians in the Midwest, and a vital voice in the world of indie music.
