We’re jumping head first into it with a cracking new podcast from @anile. 

Matt’s music has been of a consistent quality since he first made his debut back in 2010. Since then he has continued to grace a plethora of quality labels such as Soul:R, CIA Deep Kut, Commercial Suicide and Cylon to name but a few. His wide-ranging output is indicative of an artist with a broad taste in drum and bass, someone who can pick out quality within the music whatever sub-genre it may line in.

Fast-forward to 2015, and it saw Matt being picked up by none other than Med School for an album project – and what an album it was. Chock full of quality, styles and vibes – it showcased his production talent and variety in spades and is one that is sure to stand the test of time.

And now he graces us with a sublime SUNANDBASS Podcast. Flitting beautifully from deep and dark to musical and uplifting, it’s just what you need for the start of 2016.

Despite hovering quietly at the contours of the drum & bass world, Luke Wilson's enduring status as a liquid-funk deity is down to his USP - which has barely changed in 15 years. From the off, album number five sparkles with the dusty, crackly, soul-sampling aesthetic that has made him an international promoters' dream. Opener 'Promised Land' isn't just vintage, it's timeless: elegiac strings washing, brass horns mooning, strident breaks rolling with graceful dancefloor purpose. There's room for a pinch of harder textures too, as when DRS pops up on 'Handle It 2016', and pacier elements, when Random Movement guests on 'Be Right Here' - but Wilson's legions of fans should fear not: it's wall-to-wall liquid finery. Simply no one else can sweep in like this, after a couple of years silence, and plunge us once again into a sea of rare-breed samples, goosebumping melodies and gravelly funk licks. 9/10

After six years with seminal label Metalheadz, building his reputation through a steady output of Soulful Drum & Bass, Lenzman is about to embark on a new journey: launching his own label.

The North Quarter, named after the neighbourhood where he grew up, will be an outlet for both
his own productions as well as music by like minded individuals, who share a love and dedication for all things soulful. Naturally its first release is a Lenzman EP: ‘All For You’.

Taking everything that has shaped him musically and has meant something to him over the years, Lenzman is combining these ingredients to create something heartfelt. Music with imperfections,
born in heartache and pain, joy and laughter; a human celebration. Something far beyond container concepts like ‘Drum & Bass’. A classic attitude shaped in 21st century interpretations, a beautiful struggle if you will.
