What you are about to listen to is a 60 minutes breakbeat bonanza mix loosely based on the concept of calling cards. The idea dates back to the pre internet days where die hard beat diggin fiends would gather all information available from every record store as a part of the search for those obscure weird records that might have a drum break or a dope sample. Back when Records stores felt like heaven, a calling card was like a ticket to fulfill your dreams.

Calling up a number listed on a calling card you never know what to expect. Maybe the line is dead, the connection is lost, or you find yourself having found what you were always searching for…

Bio:
ScratchMagic and Steen Rock are Copenhagen based DJ’s and beat diggers. They have both cut their teeths in the danish hip hop underground by DJing for underground legends as Hvid Sjokolade, Klart Dér! and Stilen R Profilen as well laying down cuts on numerous danish hip hop releases. Both of them played a big part in Nobody Beats the Beats while also for years having DJ’ed shoulder by shoulder at places like legendary Saxons, Rust, and Vega among others places.

They also share a slightly disturbing passion for breakbeats and have collected records from every corner of the world for just 10 seconds of pure drums!

"NSDOS is back with some new toys from outer space, just in time for capturing live six figments of his twisted imagination. On this very dense and captivating EP, Kirikoo Des goes back to the 90's with some cut up electronica flair ("Christine +2", "Dona J Haraway") reminiscing Oval's work or some experimental Shake Shakir tunes. The longest tracks though feels closer to a club from the future with some eerie pads ("Fa") and liquid rhythms patterns typical of the NSDOS touch we love ("Yuko"). Overall this EP is a much cerebral effort and yet still keeps a vibrant and gorgeous organic side to it. Demanding the full attention of the listener, the reward in the end is a total bliss taking us in a deep dimension. "Space is the place" as the master Sun Ra once said!"

NSDOS - Female Guest List EP [CCB019]

Dutch DJ Cutnice began his career in 1985 when he met local artist “e-life”. From here he started to practice and play at small local venues. In 1990 he finally turned pro with his first paved gig at the very popular Rotterdam night spot “De VLERK” during a hip-hop event. This was the start of a career that would take him to a level not often seen in the Dutch hip-hop scene. Cutnice played at popular parties like Flavour of the Month, and Baroeg and was also the DJ for a local rap group called “Lethal Posse”.

In 1995 he went back to the classics digging into his father’s record collection looking for those rare grooves, funky breaks, and soul greats. This same year Tyrone van der Meer, an event organiser who was also the manager of the world-famous 010 Bboyz, invited him to fill the DJ spot as a regular for the group. Cutnice gladly accepted not knowing that this would bring him into a whole new scene and have a profound effect on his career.

Now Cutnice is the authority on DJing at bboy jams in the Netherlands. He is a resident DJ at Dutch Bboy, IBE, Planet Rock, Battle of the Year Benelux, Spinoff, and the Battle of Sneek. His style is widely respected by BBoys and he features on many mixtapes. Cutnice DJs both in the Netherlands and abroad at parties and events including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Drum Rhythm Festival, Lowlands, AND Splash Festival, spreading his “funky fresh” hip hop flavor worldwide!
