A continuation with our love for Wes Anderson’s films, Spring 2014 is greatly inspired by one of our favorite Wes’s film of all time – Moonrise Kingdom. The story centers on a pair of young lovers on the run to a spiritual adventure. It’s tenderly romantic, warmly funny and sartorially significant. The movie yields a pop culture retro- spective of mid-1960s trends, which is one of the essential themes of this season’s collection.

“There’s a scene where the two misunderstood romantics are on a misty beach with an olive colored lantern on the left, vintage suitcase on the right, her saddle oxfords on the left and a blue record player with a pair of binoculars in the foreground. It’s deeply charming, delicate, mischievous and slightly eccentric. And that’s exactly what inspired us while designing this collection.” - Al&Alicia

Free track made when the Syndicate.sg crew embarked upon the Amen Project for Xmas 2013.   The assignment was simple. Everybody had only a week to submit a track by sampling the infamous Amen Break.

CHERRY CHAN - REINDEER SKI

Found. A forgotten mixtape from 2010, hidden within syndicate.sg beats &amp; mixes.REDRUM, an art exhibition inspired by Stanley Kubrick's horror classic The Shining showcasing multiple local artists work was held in SIngapore, 2010.  

REDRUMIX was contributed as the exhibition's soundtrack. The mixtape features tracks and samples from the likes of Aphex Twin, Delia Derbyshire, Max Lane, Scout Klas, Juan Son etc.Handmade special cds with the twin girls standing on it too so they can follow you home.

Included within a not-to-be-released dubstep track "Twins", co-produced with Kiat, utilising manipulated samples from The Shining OST.  The track was used for a piece of visual installation at the same exhibition.  Click on Track Video link below the player to view.

"Those (track 1 title) are not my words. They belong to Rasha, a 16-year-old Syrian refugee. It’s sad, isn’t it? All my difficulties pale in comparison with people in her situation. There’s a problem with humanity when you read statistics about millions of people forced to leave their homes, stranded with no place to go. Recently I read that in some places, women and children now account for more than half of all refugees. When you turn on the news, there’s just an avalanche of bad news. You just have to wonder what will you do as an individual? How can you contribute? I donate to a few causes, try my best to use less plastic, but I feel guilty for not doing more. It’s not easy to be living consciously in a materialistic city. We need to be kinder, and to shine brighter. Especially now, when the world feels so much darker. " - Cherry Chan
