‘Laura’ is a song inspired by another song I wrote as a Jim Morrison obsessed teenager about his school friend, Laura, with whom I walked home from school. Entitled ‘Ship in the Night’, the original song has Laura cast as Thor’s mistress as she battles overcome the heartache and misery she is suffering. ‘Laura’ is me wondering, years later, whether she was ever able to escape the “dark angels” that hounded her during her salad days and find the happiness and love she craved.

‘Laura’ is backed with ‘Sunny Apocalypse’, a quirky reflection on the early part of the Covid pandemic in the form of a disaster movie dream in which Burton and co-star Holliday Grainger find themselves dodging ‘giant globs of Covid raining from the sky’.

Ironically the people this piece is inspired by will never hear it because, of course, they're far too busy to push play. :) The religious community has its share of holier-than-thou, self-righteous hypocrites, but the secular set has its own version of puffed-up self-importance as well: the busier-than-thou folks. You know the type, traveling on a 1-way road fueled by superego. You do for them and even do it again and again, but mostly they're too busy to spare you a moment claiming they can't find the time when, as we all know, they'll easily make time for what matters to them (video games, tweeting and texting ad infinitum). Always *implied* when you're told "I know you did but sorry, I haven't got time to reciprocate" are: "You just don't matter that much," and "How lucky you're idle enough to find time for me"—your courtesy and effort taken for granted and brushed off with the same lame excuse of "super-industry" as they slap you on both cheeks at once. How cheeky of them!

Well, a musical influence here, Steely Dan's "Pretzel Logic" asks, "Where did you get those shoes?" B-t-t Blues responds, if the sneaker fits, make like Nike and just do it! I love the community that I have found in Sound Cloud. How great is it to show our music to each other? So wonderful to have built relationships with many of you. I look forward to hearing new tracks very much but miss them on the stream no doubt, PLEASE send me your track if you got something you are proud of, I would love to hear it!!!  I have been broadened musically each time I press play and appreciate more than words the feedback I have received on my tracks. I will reciprocate to anyone who spends time here because after we start commenting on each others tracks, we are no longer followers but friends. The amount of followers doesn't matter in the slightest. What matters are the friends who care enough to share in each others creations.  Hey, I know I have a weird sound and I can be hard to listen to but when I recorded it  I was alive, I felt it and I did it!! :)
