Priz Tats is proud to present Fractal Mode, the second single from Manhattan producer DV-i’s forthcoming EP Aurora Memoria. Fractal Mode’s arrangement is the auralization of a world in which data is so diffuse that it is stored in the helical amino-acids of DNA and the algorithms used to process them have become fully autonomous. While the drum-n-bass backed percussion of the track is a deliberate throw-back to a certain digital native ancestry, Fractal Mode’s stratified, anechoic melody brings to mind the membranous glow of a quantum supercomputer and the aseptic luster of a next-gen GUI.

Brilliantly showcased as the soundtrack to an interactive Visual Novel, Aurora Memoria is a 5 song ultra-concept EP full of lush, digitally-quantized bellscapes punctuated by samples, sweeps and FM blips. Set in the neutropic, hyper-evolved megalopolis 'Fuji CIty,' this Visual Novel is an inspired new take on a medium colloquially referred to as the 'dating-sim.

UPDATE: Ooookay apparently the FNAF fandom found this?? Wow. Okay, so I feel like I oughta give a bit of information about this recording. This was the first thing I EVER rendered with Plogue's Chipspeech VST, based on a vocal synthesis rendering of the song "Daisy Bell" made on an IBM 7094 mainframe at Bell Labs in the late 1960s. The voice I'm using is Plogue's emulation of the voice engine written for the Bell Labs recording.

Arthur is a new artist based out of Delaware county, PA. Having just turned 20, Arthur is a singer songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist. He currently only records at home and as of yet has never debuted his music anywhere. Citing influences spanning several genres and decades, Arthur’s music stands out as an amalgamation of experimental songwriting and classical-esque melodic progressions. 

I was introduced to Arthur through a close friend and engineer, Caleb Laven. He played me one of the ‘kids’ stuff, a band that he had been working with and producing over the past few years in Philadelphia. I was immediately enveloped by the creativity and experimental nature of Arthur’s music. For quite some time I’ve been looking for releases that will help broaden the scope of PLZ and take it a step away from its electronic roots. Arthur’s music not only does this, but also builds upon his ‘Acid Pop’ predecessors. 

I think what I like so much about Arthur’s music is it’s fluidity. One day he’ll send me a hyper digitally-degraded synth pop track about being invisible (or at least ignored), and the next it’ll be a haunting lap steel ballad to working on a farm. I can never truly pin down what he’ll send next, but I’m always incredibly excited to hear it.
