wAFF makes a triumphant return to Hot Creations after a seven-year hiatus with his three-track, groove-driven ‘Slapfunk EP’. 

Since his first outing back in 2012, wAFF has been an integral part of the Hot Creations family, remixing various releases and dropping a total of four EPs - the last being ‘Sick Pleasure’ in 2016, which still stands today as a highlight in the label’s extensive catalogue. Marking a long-awaited return to Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ beloved imprint after seven years, with material via renowned labels such as Solid Grooves, Cocoon, Desolat and his very own NATURE imprint over that period further establishing him as a leading name, he arrives fresh from his third Paradise show of the season ready to ignite dancefloors with a trio of irresistible beats on ‘Slapfunk’. A project inspired following a night soundtracked by the Amsterdam collective, he notes “I originally made this EP after I’d been to Slapfunk in Amsterdam, and looked to create a track I thought would go down well there”. 

Title track ‘Slapfunk’ opens the release with shifting stabs, warping bass patterns and fizzing lead synths, steadily progressing into a menacing club-focused workout. Continuing his signature style, ‘Questions’ showcases a blend of pulsating beats synchronised with a warped vocal topline that enhances the allure. Finally, ‘Next Game’ delivers a punchy trip loaded with subtle minimal-leaning influences, combining chopped vocal snippets with slick, stripped-back percussion.

Steadily etching his name in the electronic music realm, Manchester-based talent Sam Curran has become a familiar face on Jamie Jones Hot Creations' sister label, Hottrax, boasting two standout releases, including the chart-topping 'Urban Shaker' that reached a coveted Beatport genre number one spot. Here, he steps up for his biggest release to date as Jones invites him for an impressive label debut on Paradise Music, revealing two funky originals and a showstopping collaboration alongside one of house music’s heroes, Grammy-nominated Todd Terry, across his ‘Boogie Nights’ EP.

Bursting with a relentless funk, ‘Boogie Nights’ comes alive through vibrant percussion, driving kicks, and rich chords, immersing listeners in a nonstop boogie affair. Next, Terry delivers a masterclass in house music as the pair link up for the irresistible ‘Sunshine’ with Lisa Pure’s vocals shimmering throughout the track for the perfect terrace anthem. To close, ‘We Want The Funk’ is a record full of attitude and groove, with sassy hooks, quirky synths and driving beats solidifying the EP as another stellar offering in Paradise Music's catalogue.

British-Chinese twins Rhett and Conran Lee are the powerhouses behind IDEMI, an all-new underground house project. The duo have spent years writing and crafting tracks under their production guise ‘Twin Lee’ for the likes of John Summit, Solardo, and Schak, to name a few, but now go it alone with their club-ready and high-impact sonics, the latest of which are distilled into this label debut on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax.

Up first is 'Outta The Box', a brilliantly stylish and catchy house cut that exudes feel-good summer vibes. The busy melodies are bright and playful as they dart about the mix before belting vocals ring out and future-facing beats keep you moving. Then comes 'Dum Dum', a more sweat-inducing tech house sound with raw drums and sharp percussion underpinned by a pulsing bassline and topped with deft pads and vocal stabs. More majestic synths arrive later on to amp things up even further.

The summer season might be all but over, but the good times keep on coming courtesy of this latest missile from Do Not Sleep by Luuk Van Dijk with a top remix from Ben Sterling.

Amsterdam based talent Van Dijk has had music in his bones since his youth and next to laying down sets at Paradise, Awakenings, elrow, Cocoon he has held a residency at Straf_Werk and released on taste making labels like Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, and Circus Recordings. He saves his best for Do Not Sleep however. 

In the District is tight, tough, hard hitting house music with interwoven drums and bass that get right under your skin and make you move, while synths and percussion peel off the busy groove. Blunted then marries warped basslines and crisp claps with woodpecker hits. It is atmospheric, stripped back but effective house that makes an immediate mark. The remix of In the District by fast rising UK talent Ben Sterling is another brilliantly direct track with prying bass loops, freaky vocal echoes and a late night sense of mischief. 

This is another vital offering from Do Not Sleep.
