Greg is a trial and appellate attorney, author, and entrepreneur, having assisted over 40 entheogen-based religious groups enshrine their rights under the free exercise laws. Greg is a prolific writer, having written three books: “Psychedelic in Mental Health Series: Psilocybin,” “The Law of Entheogenic Churches in the United States” and “The Law of Entheogenic Churches (Vol. II): The definition of religion under the first amendment.”, and his work has been featured in numerous articles and podcasts, on a variety of topics pertaining to entheogenic, religious and cognitive freedom. He is the CEO of EntheoConnect and a Co-founder of the Church of Psilomethoxin, where he holds the position of Lead Oracle.

Chico Mann, the self-proclaimed time travelling producer and multi-instrumentalist, is singlehandedly bridging the 30-something-yearlong gap between afrobeat and electronic music. His newest release marks his fourth outing on Soundway Records, the British label specialising in reissues of obscure afro-jazz, afro-funk and Latin originals.

"Nobody Wants To" is a chunky slab of spacey shimmering synth work with a hip-hop heart throbbing at its core. Supplying beautiful vocals is Kendra Morris, who explains that the track is about "trying to fill the void, and then being too stubborn to let go. (...) It feels good for a while, but then it kinda bottoms out."

"Nobody Wants To" and its instrumental version drop on 7" vinyl and digital formats on 20th May via Soundway. That same night, Soundway are throwing a party at London's Village Underground. Come one, come all.

What if Black Sabbath played Afrobeat? In short, that’s the underlying vibe to the self-titled debut by Here Lies Man. The L.A. based quintet is founded and conceptualized by Marcos Garcia of Antibalas, bringing his erudite experience of West African rhythms and music to the more riff-based foundations of heavy rock. The results are an incredibly catchy and refreshing twist on classic forms, without sounding forced and trite like some sort of mash-up attempt. Here Lies Man merges and expands musical traditions organically, utilizing the talents of drummer Geoff Mann (son of jazz musician Herbie Mann) and a host of skilled musicians to make Garcia’s vision a reality. 

“The repetitive guitar figures that happen in Afrobeat music are 
​very close to heavy rock guitar riffs,” Garcia explains. “​This music is based on the clave. It’s the musical algorithm that the rhythms revolve around. ​It's what gives it integrity and ​provides the basis for the musical conversation ​that's happening. I knew I wanted it to be psychedelic and heavy, and I wanted to be expanding on a musical tradition ​rather ​than pretending to be creating something new.”

And that expansion is the brilliant, hazy, psychedelic, hook-laden 8-song masterwork Here Lies Man, available on LP, CD and download on April 7th, 2017 via RidingEasy Records.  (Written by Dave Clifford)

Chico Mann is to release the ‘Same Old Clown EP’ on 4 March through Soundway Records ahead of his forthcoming full length album ‘Magical Thinking’. Featuring the sultry vocals of New York based Kendra Morris, the slinky and catchy album version of ‘Same Old Clown’ is joined here by deeper re-workings from USA DJ and re-edit king Kon (Kon & Amir, Nitetime), who provides both a vocal and dub remix as well as UK producer Linkwood, known in underground circles for his groundbreaking mix of future-boogie, house and detroit techno on Scotland’s excellent Firecracker Recordings imprint.

Guitarist with the band Antibalas, multi instrumentalist and guitarist, Chico Mann (AKA Marcos Garcia) has in the past worked with the likes of TV On The Radio, The Roots and Dam Funk as well as remixing Little Dragon and Alice Russell amongst others.

His most recent LP ‘Analog Drift’ (2010) was released through Wax Poetics Records, an album that he toured throughout the US. Jon Pareles (NY Times) praised his live show’s “far-reaching electronica” that had the ability “to dissolve decades, along with borders”.

Where previous Chico Mann material drew heavily on his afrobeat roots, his upcoming LP ‘Magical Thinking’ taps in to a new vein of thinking, where the 80′s funk, boogie and electro sounds of New York and Miami dominate the sonic landscape. Featuring a selection of guest vocalists, and mixed by Brooklyn producer / musician Jeremy Page (That Handsome Devil), ‘Magical Thinking’ is Chico Mann’s most ambitious and accomplished project to date.
