German DJ duo andhim brought us 'The Wizard of Us' last year, making their debut on Get Physical Music with the 2 track EP. While the title track was a small hit in its own right, it was the b-side, 'Hausch' that stole the stage with its sunny vibes and feel-good atmosphere. Now the boys have given the track to fellow Cologne artist Dürerstuben, Denmark's Kölsch and American techno-legend George Morel for a highly anticipated remix treatment.

From The Basement To The Roof (Oliver Remix)

Revered Danish producer and live performer KÖLSCH follows his 2013 hit album "1977" (KOMPAKT 276 CD 107) with the new full- length "1983", again chaining up heroic techno tracks for a grandiose sonic journey to the vibrant heart of today's dance floor. Coupling contemporary production pizzaz with nostalgia-tinged soundscapes and sweeping melodies, this opus acts as both a skilfully composed portfolio of personal memories and a sublime collection of crowd-charming cuts - a modern classic in the making, coming from a master of his craft.

Hot on the heels of SPEICHER 84 (KOMPAKT EXTRA 84), featuring club crackers DERDIEDAS and TWO BIRDS, the latest full-length offering from KÖLSCH is very much a travel album: "When I was a kid in 1983, we used to drive through Europe every summer on the way to the south of France", he explains. "A lot of my early music memories stem from these long travels, as we would listen to all my father's favorite records on the cassette deck. After getting a walkman, I would make up my own soundtrack for travelling, with early electro and hip hop creeping into my life. My father of course did not like it, and it never grace the official cassette deck of the car, obviously"
These trips became a primary source of inspiration to a hungry young mind forced to sit on the backseat of a car for several days: "they were also journeys through the seasons. In Denmark, it would be spring time, so I could nearly see us driving through spring into the summer. The scenery would change, and so would the mood in the car." Informed by the symbolic quality of these slightly gauzy childhood memories, KÖLSCH's unique melange of emotional and functional elements works exceptionally well for the full-length format - a seamless transition of musing introspection and explosve expression, where catharsis never seems far away in dance-ready techno vignettes like MOONFACE, UNTERWEGS or PACER.

From beatless opener and title track 1983 to the filigreed piano banger DIE ANDEREN or the bleep-infused synth-fest E45, each cut operates as its own little time capsule, storing bits and pieces of recollection and then magically transforming them into epic, beat-driven soundscapes. Confronted with other producers' input (and other memories), these traits find themselves extended in the most interesting ways - TALBOT, THE ROAD and CASSIOPEIA (also featured on KOMPAKT EXTRA 79) make excellent use of GREGOR SCHWELLENBACH's emotive orchestral flourishes, while BLOODLINE's lyrics come to life thanks to the distinct timbre of TOMAS HØFFDING of WHOMADEWHO fame. A new powerful take on an earlier collaboration, P AP AGENO 30 YEARS LATER not only rejoins WAA INDUSTRY on vocal duty, but also ends the album on a wonderfully elegiac, yet hopeful note - basically turning water into wine, as we've come to expect from KÖLSCH.

Its a bold and brave producer who takes on the task of remixing a stone-cold classic cut from the annuals of House history, but thats just what Joris Voorn, KiNK, Phil Weeks and Ambivalent have done with their fresh versions of DJ Dozia’s Ovum debut ’Pop Culture’.

Originally released back in 1998 ‘Pop Culture’ rapidly gained cult status on the underground. Created by fellow Philly resident Dozia Blakey, the raw and sparse original, at over ten minutes, was made for the dark, strobe-lit, sweat-on-walls rooms where it found favour. Backed by the equally popular Size-9 remix, ‘Pop Culture’ was, and still is, a record that never leaves the box for many. Now, with a fresh set of remixes, its set for a glorious return.

There's not really much else to say about this one. The names dropped in the title alone lets your ears know what they're in store for.

Detroit's Burden brothers, more commonly known as Octave One, have been making classic techno from their roots since 1990 – and, much to our pleasure, have continued to produce, DJ and play sensational live sets as though no time has passed. 25 years on, their music still fuels the dancefloors of 2nd gen. techno lovers, as well as being picked up and reworked by modern dance music's most valuable players –  of which Paul Woolford is most certainly one.

When asked about his "Lose Myself" rework, Paul shared that Octave One and their 430 West label "have been inspirations to me for so many years. We met through mutual friends and immediately connected, following various gigs together globally. It was an honour to be invited to work on something for the Detroit label. My intention was to bring out the soulful edge of Octave One's sound and place it within the framework of a track that would work towards the end of the night." Talented production duo Paul C & Paolo Martini bring their Italian flavour to the dancefloor as they are warmly welcomed back on Hot Creations with ‘Pinball’.

Title track ‘Pinball’ hits with a solid bassline, intricate percussion and a dynamic ghetto style vocal. On the flip ‘Woom’ works up a cunning groove, spell-binding melody and strong synths build towards an epic breakdown. With a combined career that spans 40 years in the business, Paul C & Paolo Martini are 2 of the hottest Italians producers around. As part of Bini & Martini, Paolo Martini was without doubt one of the most prolific house producers at the turn of the century, touring the globe and lending their remix talents to major dance labels like Defected, Strictly Rhythm, AM:PM, Twisted, Universal and many of the worlds biggest pop acts such Jamiroquai, Kylie Minogue, Terence Trent D'Arby, Murk, Armand Van Helden and many many more. Paul C has honed his production skills since the mid '90's and his energetic brand of tech-house has seen him release on a host influential labels.

From 2010 the pair have worked tirelessly in the studio and not only seen their music supported by many of the industry’s biggest names but have also seen their tracks & remixes feature on labels such Hot Creations, Cecille, 8Bit, Moon Harbour, Noir, Gruuv, Terminal M, Exploited and Bedrock amongst many others.
