Amelia Holt here. One of my favourite human beings that crossed my path the last few years. From the late nights in New York last year, to her Public Records invite, to a b2b night in Radio Radio in Amsterdam. 
This is the recording from an amazing openingset at her own party called Honey Trap, in NYC. Getting into a spectrum of steamy downtempo, triphop & smokey deep dubs in underwater realms.

After two guest appearances at Radio Vilnius, this is the first official Lauden show as part of my monthly residency at the radio station. Every first Friday of the month from 17:00-18:00 local time, this reoccurring show will be hosted by either me or by a talented artist that I will invite for the occasion to present their take on the Lauden concept. 

For the first episode, the beginning is a combination of my favourite triphop sounds from the 90s, mixed with modern works which hold the middle ground between grooviness and ambience. The sound slowly develops into more dubby realms, with final parts of the show switching gears into more emotional songs.

Fresh from Stochastic Drift, Barker’s buzzing second album named Bleep Record of the Month alongside an exclusive 12”, Barker sends a mix that really digs deep into the unique sonic methodology he has constructed across his solo career width a suitable breadth for what is also a milestone in the series, Bleep Mix #300.

From Debiasing to Utility to Stochastic Drift, Barker has been reimagining club music without its definitive thump, instead driven by melody and tactile synthesis, and this selection of tracks expands Barker’s soundworld with a host of artists walking a similar path. “For this mix, I picked out some of my favourite uptempo ambient tracks, recorded at home with two decks and a mixer. It’s music I've used in a lot of different contexts, as a DJ and listener, and I hope you enjoy it.”

Though the occasional dancefloor thump makes itself known, such as on Adriana Lopez’ ‘What Lies Behind’, it’s mostly in quaking subs rather than actual four to the floor, providing some ground for this mix’s airy freeform variety to fly over. We have the wooden plunks and seaspray of Afefe Iku’s Kenyan island sound, the wonky gamelan of Tyler Friedman’s maze of bells and chimes, the dense atmosphere of shaker-produced rain and electrical chirps forged deep in the ruins of The Future Sound Of London.

The midsection of this mix contains some magic in particular: the maestro of drumless trance Lorenzo Senni creates motion from pure jagged synth energy on ‘The Power of Failing’, dissolving into the aether of an unreleased Barker track, which further discharges into the kaleidoscopic stutters of Caribou’s ‘Never Come Back’ with jubilant piano chords and vocal clips wrought into a glitchy, swirling maelstrom of Koreless' prickly warmth. Digital Justice’s ‘Theme From It’s All Gone Pearshaped’ follows, a timeless staple for anyone wishing to dabble in melodic motion and synthsmithery, or any DJ set seeking to add some lift without losing momentum, of which this mix is in no short supply.

Bleep Mix #300 - Barker

Many of these bands existed at the intersection of Space Rock, Shoegaze & Psychedelia. Releasing on labels such as Kranky, Burnt Hair & Mind Expansion these bands carved out a unique but small scene in Michigan and Illinois in the mid - late 90's. Today many of these bands still aren't well known, enjoy a 2 hour selection of their recordings.

Another mix from the recording of May PACIFIC MODE. 003 marks the swift return of YELLOWUHURU (@yellowuhuru), the founder of the Tokyo-based party collective under the concept of House & Experimental “FLATTOP”.  This set started at 5am for closing of the night. He is finding his updated DJ style as “Future Deephouse” defines trippy collages but also freshness into the morning that makes both body and soul dance.

We reached out to one of our good pals up in the Great White North to supply us with a special downtempo mix! The manlike JEX OPOLIS is in the house, putting together this killer 90-minute joint, full of late 80's & early 90's downbeat house, ambient trance & post-acid house groovers. You may know the man from his Nu Disco Good Timin' and evil twin Bad Timin' labels, where he amps up the Italo & 90s Progressive vibes with massive kicks for the dancefloor, or his well-known mixes for The Lot Radio NYC.
