It is time for Essentials Winter 2025. The world may be cooling down, but if you press play, your speakers will start warming up.

Our long-running seasonal series provides end-of-the-year chill with its Winter edition, continuing the tradition we kicked off all the way back in 2016. Shout-out to the real ones who have been with us since the beginning. Say farewell to Fall’s golden glow, and welcome the cozy stillness of Winter, a season made for blankets, deep thoughts, and deeper bass lines.

Let this new compilation be your space heater: 28 instrumental tracks crafted by 37 producers from around the globe. From frostbitten lo-fi loops to jazzy slow-burns and head-nodding vibes. Everything you need to soundtrack the coldest months on this planet. Whether you're journaling by candlelight (analog vibes!), watching snow fall from the window (chill, bro), or just letting your mind wander in the quiet, these beats were made to keep you company.

Chillhop Essentials Winter 2025

2025 went by faster than any of us planned. Our annual Yearmix is one of the few times we slow down and look back at everything we made.

This year, we released eight compilations, five mixes, one remix album, one EP, and 14 loose singles. This mix showcases some of our favorites of the year and is a small sampling of our many drops. A seamless listening experience full of music for working, zoning out, staring at your screen, or avoiding your inbox.

Over two hours of instrumentals that don’t get in your way. Songs that got us through deadlines, soundtracked our late nights, and the occasional existential spiral. Tracks we loved, tracks we couldn't stop spinning, tracks that lived on loop while someone tried to fix the coffee machine (again).

Thanks to everyone who kept listening while dealing with their own real-life chaos. We're glad you're here. Happy New Year from all of us. See you on the other side. More soon.

Essentials Fall 2022 takes us back to Chillville, where the hot days are behind us and the cozy days are ahead. Where we last left them, our favorite Raccoon and friends were enjoying a rooftop party and some warm summer nights. Summer is officially here! The newest edition of our Chillhop Essentials series, Summer 2025 is our 38th compilation in this ongoing seasonal tradition. 

With nearly 50 artists across 28 instrumentals, Essentials Summer 2025 is a community-driven project full of sunshine and life. Pack your sunscreen and throw on some flip-flops because these energized yet laid-back instrumentals are sure to soundtrack your time by the pool, by the beach, or simply cruising around your city with the windows (finally) down. Summer is a time to close the laptop and step out into the world, taking on new adventures and embracing the extended daylight. Featuring familiar names like Ruck P, Birocratic, Ian Ewing, Nymano, Moods, Misha, and so many others (like the long-awaited return of Tantu Beats and the Chillhop debut of SYNC.EXE), this 70+ minute release is perfect for your summer months ahead.

Whether it's jazzhop, lofi hip-hop, chillhop, instrumental beats, boom bap, or old school, whatever you want to call it, this summertime collection has a little something for everyone. So grab your sunglasses, your beach towel, and your pool noodle. When you're done, you can chill out, because Summer is here.

In case you missed it, our Raccoon is on a super cool floating island all year long. Last season, our mascot was alone on a self-guided self-care retreat, but now Mango the Toucan has come along for the ride. In 2018, Chillhop Music unveiled Daydreams, a highly successful 18 song instrumental compilation. The project has seen over 200 million streams and remains one of the most well-known releases in the Chillhop catalog–a lofi classic. 

One year later, we released Daydreams 2, the 24 song compilation taking listeners back into a soothing yet faraway land of drifting away. With another 100+ million streams, it was obvious from the start that this series resonated with listeners. Perfect for its immersive style and cozy lofi beats, these two releases were instantly timeless, one our followers often reference and ask about.

Now, six years later, we are back with heavy doses of nostalgia for Daydreams 3, a 22 track project featuring some of the most acclaimed names in the instrumental beats space. Producers like SwuM, Oatmello, Idealism, Philanthrope, Ian Ewing, Arbour, Aso, Kupla, HM Surf and so many others. Even Sugi.wa, whose well known track "Almost Home" begins the first compilation, is back for more on this new release.

For the fourth and final single before the compilation drops on July 24, legendary musician and beatmaker Kupla brings the calming vibes with instrumental "Filaments". It's immersive and touching, tender and soothing. A perfect track to spin when in need of either a nightcap or a wake up call. The fluttering pianos will keep you coming back for more.

Kickstarting the fall vibes for our upcoming Essentials release is "Fairy Tales" by DESH and delaney. Their collaborative track is the culmination of working together for nearly ten years. "We noticed our sound didn’t really fit into the usual sleepy lofi vibe," says DESH, "even though it had a bit of that flavor. Instead, it naturally leaned more toward jazz and boom bap. Still mellow, but with a bit more rhythm and soul." The laid-back instrumental is lush and dreamy with hard-hitting drums and a memorable synth solo. "To us, the song feels like the beginning of a fairytale," continues DESH. "Light, floating, beautiful. It’s got that dreamy quality, but it’s still grounded in the sound we’ve been building together for years. It feels like a new direction, but also a continuation of everything we’ve always been about.” This one's perfect for the welcoming of a new season, as the heat begins to fade and the cool breeze takes over. 

“Fairy Tales” is the first single off of Essentials Fall 2025, with the second single out on August 28, and the full compilation dropping on September 4.

The third Essentials of 2025 also features Chillhop favorites like Sleepy Fish, Ian Ewing, C Y G N, G Mills, and many more. These 68 minutes of hand-picked and carefully-curated instrumental gems are everything you need to settle into a brand new season.

As for our Raccoon—last we saw, they were enjoying summer with Mango the Toucan on a floating island. Now, as the leaves fall, with Mango still around, the island has turned into a garden, complete with carrots and Jazz the Bunny. Together, the three partake in deep conversations, cultivating, and connecting with nature. The colors are shifting, the vibes are mellowing, and a new chapter in the Chillhop world begins. Stay tuned to see where this journey takes us next season.

Continuing with the autumnal feels as we approach the release of Essentials Fall 2025 is the instrumental track "Sometimes It's Hard to Say" between G Mills and Molly McPhaul. This energized collaboration has fitting artwork that takes us up in clouds, where daydreams and nostalgic reflections are all the more common. "Molly is the loop queen," says G Mills, "and sent me the initial guitar layers. I then played piano and bass and after some back and forth, Molly added the vocals, which I think really tied the whole thing together." The lively track is vibrant and energized, one fitting for both outdoors and indoors, socializing with friends or studying away. "The songs I’ve made with G Mills," says Molly, "have always felt less like compositions and more like discoveries. The music feels familiar, as if it had always existed somewhere in the cosmos, waiting to be translated through production and collaboration.” This track perfectly prepares us for a new season, for the arrival of Fall, as leaves change and leave the trees to meet the ground. As the nights grow longer and the heat fades away.

"Some truths live in silence," adds Molly, referring to the song title, "and when what we feel is too complex or raw to put into words, that’s when we create art."

“Sometimes It's Hard to Say” is the second and final single off of Essentials Fall 2025, with the full compilation out next week on September 4.

Winter is one step closer with "Machine Learning", the new jazzy lofi track between friends and frequent collaborators ØDYSSEE & L'Indécis. These two French artists, who are good homies with the label, recently moved to The Netherlands and we're stoked to have them in the same country as Chillhop HQ. Chillhop Music is proud to present the next chapter in our global series: Timezones Japan. This compilation marks Chillhop’s second Timezones installment of 2025, following the debut Nigeria edition, which celebrated Nigeria’s rich instrumental music scene.

At the core of Timezones Japan lies a subtle yet meaningful tribute to the legacy of legendary beatmaker Nujabes, who continues to inspire producers and listeners around the world, ourselves included. Sampling has driven instrumental hip hop in Japan for over two decades now, and to honor that, we invited four acclaimed Japanese composers to craft original samples, which then became the foundation for a lineup of 20 celebrated beatmakers from Japan and beyond.

To ensure Timezones Japan authentically captures the country’s instrumental hip hop culture, we collaborated with music creative and label owner Takumi Koizumi as a cultural advisor. The composers we worked with are equally integral to the project’s sound: multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Naho Kinama, guitarist and producer Yutaka Hirasaka, saxophonist and flautist Yuichiro Kato, and pianist Noriko Kose, whose piece “I Miss You” was famously sampled in Nujabes’ iconic “Reflection Eternal.”

Timezones Japan is a love letter to Japanese instrumental hip-hop, filled with countless gems waiting to be discovered. Japanese icons such as FK, DJ Mitsu The Beats, TSUTCHIE, and DJ Ryow a.k.a. Smooth Current deliver captivating beats, joined by acclaimed international artists including Freddie Joachim (J. Cole, Joey Bada$$), Mecca:83 (Tom Misch, Gallant), FloFilz (MF DOOM, Biig Piig), and The Deli, alongside Chillhop favorites Psalm Trees and Birocratic.
