the basis of this (first 40 seconds or so) was originally written as a MIDI file, over a decade ago, for an rpgmaker game a friend of mine from high school was making. A few years ago I made this remaster/extension of it and I'm quite fond of how that turned out. I put this in the maj7 synclisten so i might as well upload it here too!

30th out of 84 in Sample Pack Contest XVI

this is my first time ever since i switched to renoise as my primary daw writing something that's contained all in one xrns (usually my workflow is very destructive and ends up as a bunch of separate xrns files stiched/layered together)

I am also proud to have also gotten 84th out of 84 in the same contest with my joke entry(lowest ranking position in spc HISTORY since this had more entries than any prior spc. and 3rd lowest score ever given to an spc entry as well)

Done using only 2a03 and VRC7, no DPCM. I put randomized stereo panning on each channel for no reason on this upload also. Also this is the first thing I've ever completed using a tracker! I had always enjoyed tracker-made chiptune, so it made me pretty happy to be able to finally feel comfortable with this way of doing things and these sorts of limits!

VERY loose and weird remix of music from my #1 favorite video game of all time, Riven: The Sequel to Myst : )

Featuring: Catherine's Prelude, Gehn Speaks, Gehn's Theme, Moeity Theme...as well as technically Temple but only as in it was sampled for like 2 seconds and it's barely audible lol. and also a bunch of sound effects from the game!

Also this references the number 5 musically in a ton of different ways because Riven the game references the number 5 in an insane amount of different ways but the music mostly /doesn't/, so I wanted to make a version of the music that did! I've wanted to do something like this for AGES, had this idea floating in my head for like a decade, took until now to finally force myself to make it a reality !

For Sample Pack Contest X ! Got 7th out of 55. This one was actually fairly last minute thrown together but the end result is that it perfectly nails a style I've wanted to hit for quite a long time but never quite could until now, very happy with it for this reason!

this was also very sonic shuffle-inspired (Sonic Shuffle is my single favorite game ost and I am so overwhelmingly happy that someone submitted a sample from it)but i'm not sure how successfully it would sound like that soundtrack to anyone, inspiration was pretty loose. Also the title was something I imagined could be the title of a track in sonic shuffle and I have no idea if anyone else caught onto this or not lol, the title also has a bit of uhhhh personal relevance that should be obvious to anyone who read my comments last spc hehehe. Anyways i'm pretty happy with it despite its last minute-ness, explored some areas of writing I wanted to for a long time but never really had properly until now, this exact category of weird atonal-ish melody is a vibe i've been trying to hit and never really pulled off in many tracks so I'm glad to have done it here. had no idea how this would be received and i didn't expect it to perform that well because of its weirdness but I at the very least managed to 100% pull of exactly what I want to hear. Pleasantly surprised that so many people liked it!

i was disappointed in this song because I had wanted to make a "CORRUPTED CUTE PLUSH TOY FRI3ND THAT DEVOURS YOUR SOUL" theme___d song for like years, and this did not turn out really much like anyth1ng I had in mind D: so i got very sad : ( especially as I feel i fell back on too many "chimeratio default traits" when I had wanted to write something that tried a lot of new things. but I still had fun making a fun song ^^

it was also my first time using a new setup where my BIG keyboard can be used to record live-played things into the inside of my computer :O i have done things like this before very VERY occasionally but only using my tiny midi keyboard that is much harder to play. the majority of the track at any given moment has at least one component at least partially involving things I was playing live and that is cool to finally be able to do more conveniently than in the past!! Ironically i went for quite mechanical and artificial stuff that probably sounds more computer input sequenced than most of my actually sequenced music! (a running theme with whenever i do this kinda thing it seems) mostly i just spammed transposing sus2 stabs and quartal/quintal runs hehe...but it was still fun!

this was inspired by various music I enjoy such as "Mad Buffoon" (aka Paradox) by Hitoshi Sakimoto from the video game "Sword Maniac". and also "Naughty Oaf Isle" by Shnabubula......and i intended to reference Hitomi Sato's cute quirky BEEP COMPUT3R JAZZ style here but didn't really get a chance to. AND Jethro Tull "Batteries Not Included" in concept. The end result does n0t really sound like any of these songs : ( but i hope my fun friends can still enjoy the song that I have made ^^"

Tribute to the things I love about Bahamut Lagoon's style composed by NORIKO MATSUEDA, someone who does not get the credit she deserves for being such a wonderfully unique contributor to Square's sound!

and also a tribute to SHNABUBULA who showed me that soundtrack in the first place, and who's also a huge SNES guy. He's done so much to be an inspiration to me, including making lots of cool stuff in snes limits!

It's impossible to do either of these things justice because I respect them so much and this is literally my first attempt at doing an snes tune ever, but I hope for my first attempt at doing something like this it's satisfactory! Will be doing more stuff like this in the future I hope!
