How would the original songs of Fred Astaire sound with a contemporary arrangement and sung by some of the most energetic and still sensitive singers of nowadays?

Did you ever wonder how it would sound if 1990s party heroes Right Said Fred sang a song by 1930s/1940s dance and film legend Fred Astaire?

We didn’t either. And then we just tried it. The result was mind-blowing.

So we gathered some well-known old hands of the music biz and some promising newcomers to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Fred Astaire’s death with us and record 14 contemporary versions of the old master’s songs:

• Right Said Fred („I’m too sexy“)
• Taco („Puttin’ on the Ritz“)
• Alexander Rybak (European Song Contest Winner)
• Freak Power („Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out“)
• Alvin Chea (Member of multi-Grammy winner „Take Six“)

The ESC’s sound is a powerful combination of vintage samples, electro beats, gypsy-jazz guitar, electric double bass, keys, live drums and dirty synths. Fronted by an engaging female double-act, who perform an extensive variety of vocal styles, the ESC delivers a consistently dazzling show.

'Remixed Vol.1' is the first of a 2 part multi-genre remix release of tracks from the 2nd album by the ESC; It Flew By. We plan to keep the Electro-Swing scene as diverse as it wants to be right here.

All the stops have been pulled on this release, with remixers taking the original material in all directions. The EP features a classic swing house remix of Hit & Run by the one and only Wolfgang Lohr, a killer Jump Up DnB remix of Remedy by Featurecast, some of the finest wobbliness from stateside Glitch Hop leaders SpekrFreks, an extremely heavy & haunting DnB remix of It's Okay, from some of the best producers on the DnB scene - Document One. And last but not least, one of Electro Swing's leading star's, Jamie Berry's big bass remix of Mr Magpie.
