GREEN VELVET make his Circus Recordings debut with Bigger than Prince, his most talked about track in years...

Bigger Than Prince was born after a conversation where Yousef invited Green Velvet to Indonesia to DJ with him on the annual Circus Tour. The two had a discussion about Green Velvet contributing a brand new track Yousef's Circus X // part 1 compilation, where ten friends of Circus produced a track for Circus Recordings to celebrate ten years or Circus events.

Here we have the Green Velvet contribution...

Bigger than Prince is classic Green Velvet, yet its as current and sharp and fresh as music sounds in 2013. Quirky and driving, already in the boxes of Jamie Jones and Richie Ahmed.

If the original was not enough, Yousef drafts in more of his friends on remix duties, neither need any introduction, HOT SINCE 82 and THE MARTINEZ BROTHERS...

Here is Modern Amusement Podcast 03...I was enjoying a caipirinha in my hotel room on my last night in Sao Paulo this weekend, when I heard a rapid metallic knock at the door…   Thinking it was an errant room service, when I opened the door and saw nothing I was shocked…

Until I heard a series of bleeps and tones and a shiver coming from the ground and looked down.  I was surprised to see b6 the backwards motion robot again.  He was shivering and cold to the touch and his outstretched claw held a disc labeled “Lee Foss – Modern Amusement Podcast 03”   below was a a message from a future me that this was a recording of an old school house set from the early 2000's played at the 2088 Neptune Ball.  While excited to see more evidence that in the future both time travel and planetary colonies are possible I was disappointed that once again there was no tracklisting on the disc.

Danilo: "Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis form part of the holy trinity of R&B producers that defined my musical tastes during my formative years. The other two being L.A. Reid and Babyface (LaFace) and Teddy Riley. Of course there were plenty of other music makers out there that played (Prince, Quincy Jones, Kashif etc.) but it was the music of these three that I hunted more than most.
When the opportunity came up with Music Is My Sanctuary to put together a tribute mix honouring their music I lunged at it like an overexcited schoolboy! The only question was what do I put in the mix!? If you’ve heard any of my New Jack Era mixes on Mixcloud you’ll know I have a penchant for extendeds and rare mixes. The problem is there’s no way to include a catalogue of work that spans approximately 35 years and still give those gnarly mixes room to breathe. Its for this reason I’ve decided to make this mix a tribute to the Jam & Lewis work of the 80s..."
