Lydia Ourahmane 'Music to sleep to' 2020

For our third anniversary, @dasha-rush prepares a dreamful ambient mix filled with flexible stretchy surfaces and cinematic soundscapes. 'Skating the Hights and Surfing the Depths' is a solitary journey through the deepest underwater caves, ancient forests, pulsating brainwaves, and forgotten dreams.

Whether it’s her curiosity for neuroscience, astrophysics, extreme natural phenomena, or the deepest human desires, Dasha transforms the powerful forces of nature into many-layered dense electronic music, visual explorations, and performative art. The Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist and DJ is known for her collaborative art projects and wild imagination. We spoke to Dasha about her audio-visual performance 'Dark Hearts of Space' in our third issue guest-edited by Jeff Mills.

This music was improvised and recorded on April 31st in the quiet bunker-esque venue, Ausland, just 20 doors down from where I live in Berlin. Additional processes and editing were competed on May 2nd 2020. Special thanks to Cafe Oto, Billy Steiger, Petter Eldh and Sophie Fetokaki for their part in the making of this work.
