2020 oh 2020… Where to begin ?
It actually started great with a fantastic New years eve gig in Goa, followed by a few more successful gigs in France, UK and Australia. And then in March, it all stopped.
This year has been quite challenging for me to say the least, as it was for everyone. After touring non stop almost every weekend for 20 years, it was really hard getting used to this new reality.
My role as a DJ has always been beyond just a job, it has been my life for so long, a life that I love and cherish, nothing gets better than travelling the world and making people dance.
Of course, this change had some advantages and not everything was bleak. Getting more family time is always a plus - Travelling constantly for so many years was not easy on me and my family, so it was good to be present at home also on weekends and holidays.
One more huge plus was a lot more studio time - another element which was hard to handle with flying so much. So it was good to get productive once again with music. I released 7 tracks, a compilation, and kept Psy-Nation radio going monthly with 12 new episodes.
It was also a good time to get experimental in the studio and produce some more obscure stuff beyond the usual psy.
But Psytrance is still where it's at for me. I started two new projects, which you will soon hear about. The Ace Ventura in Dub album has been shaping up into something really special. And I continued working on the third AV album.
So it's safe to say, there is a lot to look forward to in 2021. And I can’t wait to get back out there and see you all again.
But before 2020 finally ends (Thank god), there is the new christmas selection to share.
For the last 7 years I’ve presented you my annual Christmas mix, and this time, it came out quite different. In this very strange year, I decided to embark on a multi-genre mix quest, covering many kinds of electronica, spanning around three decades, and ranging from Ambient, Glitch, Dub, and Synthwave, to Progressive house, techno, Zenoneseque and Progressive Trance.
The journey became three and a half hours long, and I hope you will enjoy the ride…

ACE VENTURA - CHRISTMAS SELECTION VOL. 7 MIX

As we journey into sleep, where do we go, who do we meet, an old friend, animals who have enhanced our lives, faces from the past. Dreams sometimes channel into music from the hibernation of my reality. I feel refreshed by the surreal landscapes, altered as if by Dali. I usually write down my dreams in the hope the will be made clear in the daylight, and some turn into JR music. This is my Dreamtime over the years, with the input of some great collaborators.
