TECTONIC SHIFT FESTIVAL 2023 ✨

CHIXY GUAP, aka Kelsey Shirriff, is a Global Club DJ who channels her sound from the trapical ratchetverse! 

A fan of heavy bass, fresh world sounds and 🎶 that generally makes you go “DAAMMMMNNN," she has a highly intuitive way of keeping the room bumpin' with a variety of genres. 

Since starting her DJ career in 2021, she's already garnered enough attention to play legendary venues and festivals across the US, Mexico, and abroad.

CHIXY is originally from the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN, where hot music is the only thing that keeps people warm in the cold. Kelsey's also been privileged to travel extensively and her selects reflect the wide range of sounds and voices she’s been exposed to. 

She’s particularly fond of femme-forward rap, music in Spanish and Portuguese, sounds from the African Diaspora, and basically anything underground that makes your chest vibrate. 

She also worked the Amphitheater Stage at Shambala Music Festival for several years and been influenced by dozens of up-and-coming bass connoisseurs and legends alike.

Sophisticated Delinquency is excited to unveil "Essa Mi Boujee," a trap remix of Migos' "Bad & Boujee" by CHIXY GUAP, globally acclaimed club DJ and producer. This release marks CHIXY's first remix, blending Portuguese/Baile Funk with trap rhythms.

CHIXY GUAP, originating from Minneapolis and now based between Portland and Mexico City, is celebrated for her dynamic sets across genres. "Essa Mi Boujee" exemplifies her skill in merging heavy bass with global sounds, proven to energize dancefloors.

The Audio Social Mix Series is back, and we’re opening with CHIXY GUAP.

A powerful and intuitive force behind the decks, CHIXY brings global bass, curiosity, intention, and a deep sense of community into every set. This mix reflects her summer playing festivals from afternoon sun slots to peak-hour late nights or as she puts it, a “day to night vibe” shaped by moving through different energies, stories, and crowds.

Her sound pulls from everywhere she’s been and everyone who inspires her. Traveling, digging deep, and obsessively searching for the right textures and rhythms. “There are moments where I’m like damn, I love that sound, where can I find it or how can I make it?” That detective-level passion shows up here in the mix she incorporates bass on a spectrum including: Miami bass, Afro beats, Afro tech, UK bass, dubstep, breaks, hip hop all fluid and fearless.

Rooted in Portland, CHIXY is as serious about community as she is about her craft ( which we admire about her).   She believes in the responsibility of being part of a scene: “in order to have a village, you have to be a villager” and she shows up for her people. A champion for femme artists and a voice pushing for safer, more intentional dance spaces, she reminds us why underground culture exists in the first place.

When CHIXY is on the bill, you know it's gonna be a party. Known for high-energy, bass-heavy sets, CHIXY GUAP aka Kelsey is a DJ and producer who channels her sound from the trapical ratchetverse, navigating global genres from UK club to trap to baile funk and beyond. A fan of forward-thinking low-end, fresh world rhythms, and selects that generally make you go “DAAMMMMNNN," she has a highly intuitive way of keeping the room bumpin'.

Fusing many different voices and flavors, CHIXY stirs up an undeniably spicy sound (and a packed dance floor).

Since starting her DJ career in 2021, CHIXY's already been fortunate to play well-known venues and festivals across the US, Mexico, and Canada, including Shambhala, Soundpieces, Shady's Rest at Oregon Country Fair, Camp Questionmark at Burning Man, and more. She also already has a few of her own productions floating around the sonic stratosphere. 

Based in Portland, OR, but originally from the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN, Kelsey's been privileged to travel extensively, and her selects reflect exposure to many different soundscapes and people. She’s particularly fond of femme-forward rap, music in Spanish and Portuguese, sounds from the African Diaspora and basically anything underground that makes your chest vibrate. Heavily influenced by years living off and on in Mexico City, she also spent several summers working the Amphitheatre Stage at Shambhala Music Festival in Canada, where she witnessed dozens of up-and-coming bass connoisseurs alike.
