"HIGH SCHOOL" is a song based on my experience of when I was going to an all-girls Catholic high school. It is essentially my "coming out" song that I wish I could have released at 15. I was extremely closeted about my sexuality, and was not confident enough to tell my friend that I was in love with her. Because I had these intense feelings and tried my best to keep it a secret from everyone, I felt like I didn't fit in with my peers and was always going to be a wallflower observing everyone else around me.

HIGH SCHOOL

Chloe Mayse is a queer, alternative pop singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. In 2022, the Canada Arts Council granted the artist $50,000 towards producing her first EP album. 
In 2014, Chloe Mayse won a singing competition that granted her the opportunity to sing in a backup choir for Tegan and Sara at the JUNO Awards in Winnipeg, Canada. It was a dream come true, performing with the globally successful queer musicians that Chloe has always looked up to, and who’d served as a major influence on her own music. 
Chloe started singing at the age of two, picked up the guitar at the age of 10, and wrote her first song at 15. She’s also taken up piano, ukulele, and bass.

Songwriting has helped Chloe figure out who she really is, and how she identifies her sexuality. It has also been the tool that has acted as free therapy when she struggled with her mental health in the past. Chloe Mayse is a strong advocate for the queer community in Toronto, and wants to bring awareness towards mental health issues that anyone might struggle with at some point in their life.
